Good race cards today and Sunday handicapping wise. Sure hope they both live up to it.Â

race 1   average clarity  Â
1  Sweet as a Rose  was on the improve prior to stumbling and losing her jockey in her latest.......best back to back drills in a long time hints she is back on track....trainer could use a win
3  True History  wide trip in last (about 5L loss of ground) and still won......very deserving of today's step up
2  Causeway Carolyn  trainer has had a dull meet but can jump-start things here with this filly who has popped 3rd straight races that fit fine for today's level
race 2 Â Â average clarity
3  Small Town Shuffle  so so debut back in early June.......returns close to 3 months later with an improved tightly spaced work series......very dangerous 2nd time starter.....only time Nakatani has been up for Miyadi over the last 2 months lead to a long-shot winner.............hmmm
2  Midvale Magic  wide trip in latest or could have done better than a 4th place finish......back in short rest and with a strong 5/8ths work one week ago......that says this Hollendorfer colt is feeling good
5  Scatastic  moved forward in latest and it is somewhat disguised......cut back of 1/2F seems like a good thing
6  Cee the Preacher  horrid start in MSW and then showed he can run some.....blinkers on to help focus.......not impossible if he gets it "right" today
race 3 Â Â above average clarity
2  Iron Fist  seems to have come out of his race on the East coast in good shape as he sure is working well since arriving back at Del Mar........2 for 2 at today's distance and both wins are quite strong.....only 1 of 2 mounts for choosy Mike Smith
6  Gimme Da Lute  Cal-bred is on quite a roll and has a stellar record when remaining at home (6 5 1 0) .......owns very nice advantages stalking style
1  Fame and Power  ran 4 solid efforts in a row and then had a horrendous trip in his last race.....1st time Bejarano today
7  Rocko's Wheel   should be running late with a pace scenario that might be stressful for the speed horses

2  Glory Bound  hello Del Mar......this Dollase 1ster sure woke up in a big way once he started working on the Dmr surface with a series of tightly spaced work-outs......rather sure he is meant and ready for his MSW debut
6  Record Highs  best set of works for a Gaines 1st timer in quite some time.....and mom has tossed 6 winners from 6 starters including a Stakes winner....very dangerous
4  Buff Dude  last sure looked like a public work-out......and look who takes the call for his 2nd lifetime start
9  Packin Heat  showing both speed and endurance in his morning work in preparation for his MSW debut.......tough post or might have rated higher
race 5 Â Â average clarity
1  Signature Cat  claimed by D'Amato in his latest and the works since are vastly improved......believe the trainer has the trump card for this fellow.....flashed brilliant speed in his only turf race to date
3  Oil   powerful early speed on the dirt and owns a good grass pedigree......5F seeems like the perfect fit.....that is if he lives up to his turf breeding
4  Law Dog  likes 5F the best and gets plenty of speed to flatter his late kick....not out of this
9  Atta' Boy Woody   crushed in his only race at 5 panels and it was his MSW debut 3 races back......bred fine for the sod......needs a clever trip from a tough post in which to start
race 6 Â Â average clarity
9  Comanche Ruler  last is decent but what I really like is that this 3-year-old gelding has put in 3 works since his last.......likely came out of his last in good shape........and he is 1 for 1 at today's abbreviated 5 1/2 sprint distance
8  Dr. Vincenstein   best early gas in the race......and cutting back one furlong today should help him high stick around longer
10  Mydancingshadow  solid effort/number in last......but likely needs to stalk the high-speed of our 2nd choice......debateable if he is capable of running without the lead.........answer should come today
1  Justonemorething  toss out last at 6 1/2F as he wants no part of running past 6F........should be a hot pace up front and that will likely make him a factor in the late stages
race 7 Â Â average clarity
6  Matter of Luck  solid final time and did it despite running a fast 1st quarter......placed well to win.........likely only needs a repeat of her last
10  Little But Lucky  dangerous trainer dropping multiple levels especially this year......all three lifetime dirt race (albeit run in 2014) fit well here
3  Shallot  last two races fit well but can she do it at 6F instead of 5 & 5 1/2F which seem to suit her best......solid trainer/owner/jockey trio to get the job accomplished
8  Kantina Kowgirl  woke up in latest.....fits fine if she builds off of the improved effort
race 8 Â Â average clarity
4  Semper Fortis  ran 2nd in a fast heat in his MSW debut with the time/number supported by a gap of 14L to 3rd.....and he flashed strong early speed....should be tough
7  Oppidum  expensive purchase is training like he is yet another potentially nice horse from the Baffert barn........what's new
6  Who's Out  bet to favoritism in MSW debut.......didn't fair too well......but continues to train as though he has talent......and Mike Smith wants the mount
2  South Detroit  horrid start in MSW debut and then showed some life after that........best drill to date just worked 5 days ago......move forward seems likely........needs to break well this time
race 9 Â Â above average clarity
4  Holograeme  solid final time in latest and very impressive in that he ran very wide........had the 10 post to cope with.......gets the 4 post today.......should negotiate a better trip today
6  Pammy Whammy  exits the same fast race as our top pick........should be on or near the front end front the get go........might be tough to catch if she repeats her last
5  Sweet  on the right end of the learning curve and the learning process will likely continue with R Mandella at the helm......has a shot if it does
1  Miss Boom Boom  likely needs her "A game" to take down this affair......the fact that Bejarano and his agent want the mount hint she might be up for it
race 10 Â above average clarity
8  Don't Tell Judy  best set of works for a Kory Owens 1st timer in many a moon.......and she is well-bred to sprint......mom has tossed 2 winners from 2 starters and both were Stakes winners
12  Parasail  another 1st time starter working impressively for her debut that also owns a good pedigree for sprinting
10  Moonie  should be well prepared to finish up well coming off of a route turf race........very dangerous connections
5  Lacey's Rainbow  26 to 1 for a Kruljac/Nakatani 1st timer hints the race was a gimme.......Nakatani remains up.......seems like a go for today
7  Soul Flyer  owns dangerous speed.....might be up for best ever 2nd out after a layoff and 4th lifetime race
1  Kitty's Karma  first time starter draws "the man"
