Later races today made more sense. Might want to take it easy early on.

race 1 Â Â below average clarity
5  French Getaway   good work tab for this Hess 1st timer and the fact he legs up Desormeaux suggests he has this MSW debut runner meant and ready.....mom has tossed 3 winners from 4 starters and two of them were Stakes winners
4  Esposito  Tom Proctor is quite dangerous with 2nd time starters ........and this colt's dirt debut was fairly decent........more seems likely today.........Van Dyke seems to be breaking out of a slump
6  Sorryaboutnothing  good-looking prolonged work regiment for this O'Neill 1st starter who was purchased in June for a cool $220K........draws Bejarano........danger city
1  Good for it  strong MSW debut at Dmr......tossed a clunker at Lrc......back to Dmr......sharp recent a.m. work.....rebound seems likely
race 2 Â Â average clarity
4  With a Twist  17 for 21 in the money on the sod.......both efforts since arriving in S Cal fit solidly in this spot.......the one the overcome if she is up for another one
3  Zanbo  best at 1 1/16th on the turf (4 2 1 1) and has run well off of short rest in the past........15 days sure qualifies for "short rest"......Bejarano knows her well
1  Privileged One  red-hot trainer and a solid grass rider in Nakatani......impressive easy dirt win in last might have her feeling good....1st on the lawn and 1st running around two turns but her pedigree to handle both is solid
5  Thundering Gale  no chance in last getting a very bad trip 1st out after the Baltas claim.......drops back to 32K where Baltas claimed her for........positive rider switch especially for the turf........should fit here
race 3 Â Â below average clarity
6  Mike's Benchmark  decent debut especially considering how weak this field appears......the one to beat if he builds on the effort
7  Tough But Nice   Palma has been more dangerous with 1st timers this year and this colt is drilling as if he might be ready....... and ready in a soft looking field
8  H R Express  working well enough to possibly be ready to compete at a level high enough to be a factor in his MC debut
3  Nusret  not much but might be able to snatch the lead and discourage a weak difficult to decipher bunch
race 4 Â Â below average clarity
4  What a View  has tactical speed and a good post......Desormeaux should be able to find the wood on the 1st turn and with a smoother looking runner.......like his chances if I'm correct in my evaluation
2  Something Unusual  consistent sort long and short and his last down the hill is very strong.......would have rated higher if he had a better history sprint to route......still..... seems quite dangerous and with a good post
5  Tamait  French invader has been away since April but he sure will fit solidly if he is fully ready to rock and roll.....hard to tell if he is or if this is only a tune-up
8  Red Button  facing tougher today but shows a very aggressive work tab for the likes of Bill Spawr......dangerous
Long-shot consideration:  1  Unusual Fleet  won the last time running off of a long layoff.......away since April and training sharply.........good post.....god rider and trainer.......dangerous
race  5   average clarity
1  Antinanco  last 3 races fit and he seems likely to sit on or near the lead and with 1st time Bejarano......and trainer Mike ice cold Pender sure could use a win
4  The Gold Monkey  solid late runner especially for such a low-level .......will be flying late if the race falls apart
2  Alpine Luck  Keith Desormeaux claim back has run OK since he re-claimed this gelding but........ more than OK seems likely for today as he puts his Bro up for the 1st time in a while
10  Dive Down  last fits and is somewhat hidden by a wide trip.....but.....nasty post to try to avoid another wide run.....doubt he can overcome a wide trip in this spot....Talamo needs to get clever
race 6 Â Â average clarity
7  Spirit of Ten   vastly improved since D'A claimed.....likes ample time between starts and D'Amato gives it to his filly......impressive work tab......4 straight wins since the claim might be in the cards
5  Glory  par like (for today's higher level) turf sprint down the SA hill in last.......not too shabby for 1st on the sod........showed she can handle a route on the main track.....so......it is logical that a par effort or maybe more has a decent likelihood of occurring here
2  Havanna Belle  improved since D'A put the blinkers on two back.........filly needs ample time between starts and gets it......and because she needs ample time between starts she needs to be fully ready
8  Last Kiss  seems likely to move forward 2nd out after invading from Argentina.......and of course.......2nd out following a 10 month hiatus from the game
race 7 Â Â average clarity
5  All Run  vastly improved since Baltas took over the training of this four-year old two races back.......sharp race bullet 4F drill........up and coming trainer has a big shot at going 3 for 3 with his new shooter
8  Melatonin  last time raced turf to dirt the maneuver led to a 3 1/2 length win and win in a race that produced multiple next out winners.....turf in last (and a strong turf race at that)......turf today
6  Kafister  likes Del Mar and is 6 for 12 at the distance.....not at all impossible here
2  Prime Issue  seems like this is a prep......but.......the works are awfully strong for a prep......not out of this if this isn't just a tune-up for a route race in his next start
race 8 Â Â average clarity
2  Three Hearts  best on firm turf and gets it today.......strong work regiment hints Drysdale means business with his five-year old mare today who is 1 for 1 on the Dmr sod and 1 for 1 for Talamo who rode that Dmr race
6  Energia Fribby  solid return to the race wars in a race at SA for this Drysdale invader......could have won with a better trip.....one of the few rough trips on the sod for Gutierrez in a long time.....at the very top of his game jock will likely get things right today
7  Chaulk O Lattey  seems like the best speed but can take back and still perform if need be........a little short fig wise but not desire wise with an outstanding record of ( 7 4 1 2) on the grass
5  Beat of The Drum  faster than the 4 horses inside of her so my guess is Desormeaux will be able to find the rail on the 1st turn....and that folks is usually more than 1/2 the battle in a turf route
race 9 Â Â average clarity
12  Unbridled Rocket  very strong effort/fig in last at 7F which was the 1st time running further than 5 1/2F on the main track......and the time was supported by a gap off 11 lengths to 3rd.......seems like a handful unless his last knocked him out some
9  Blue Copper  solid work tab for the given level of racing......and Hess is better than average with debuting maiden claimers.....good rider/trainer combo to boot
10  Purrin' Proud  trainers hot and his two-year old appears to be improving......needs another forward move and might provide one
6  Midnight Rumble   might be MSW gimme to drop into a low-level MC and go
11  Palamon  back to a sprint appears to be a plus as is the change in riders
3  Wings of the Wind   trainer is an impressive 22% with his last 2 dozen MC 1sters
