Los Alamitos for Saturday 16 April 2016
Just an OK card today but I like like Sunday's.
Best of luck as always!
race 1 Â Â below average clarity
4  Altaira  seems best at Lrc and also seems best at 5 1/2 furlongs.....gets both today and likely the top jock on the grounds in Desormeaux......hard not to like even on the step up of one level
5  Back Street Cat  on the improve and Stra has looked good handling this 4 yr old filly......like the way this filly has gone head to head on the frond end in her last couple and not given up
3  Lady Wedge  clunker in her last.....needs a rebound to her race two back and she will fit here
race 2 Â Â above average clarity
4  Gracie Ragazza  exactly the same maneuver today as on 13 Sept at Lrc and Dec 13th at Lrc.....sprint-sprint-route..........draws Desormeaux..........meant and ready to roll
2  Melanistic  solid wake up 2 races back with the blinkers put on.......connections might have been a little too ambitious in her next start........recent drill is her best showing for quite some tome.....rebound city today
5  Hennythelovepenny   good history with this filly (2 times) with the sprint-sprint-route maneuver......route today following two sprints.....hot rider/trainer combo of late in Pena/Miller
race 3 Â Â average clarity
4  Tiz a Tommy Town  1st 3 lifetime races fit well here in this soft looking group......away since tossing a clunker back on 19 Sept but sure is working as if the farm (or maybe an operation or two) mended what was ailing her.......we will find out
6  Proud 'n Ready  filly has beaten more than 1/2 of her opponents in 3 straight grass race......lone dirt race 4 race back was at Lrc and is better appears in print......broke poorly and then showed life.....trainer sure has been reliable and dangerous over the last 6 months or so
5  Sugary  Martin Jones is almost always a toss out with 1st time starters but not here...........good works - telltale rider up in Desormeaux - decent works - and most importantly........a weak field
7 Â Lovely Raquel
race 4 Â Â average clarity
2  Street Surrender  very bad start and ran wide and still managed to overcome both to graduate at 1st asking......very solid in the a.m. since ........will need a better trip vs winners today........here's hoping he gets it
1  Blessherheart  much better three-year old filly since she learned how to take back.......and that would likely be wise here as those near the front end have had it rather tough the 1st two days of this meeting.....hot rider/trainer combo in Baze/D'Amato
4  Candy Boss  very impressive effort on a very sloppy track that was run on 31 Jan at SA......off since but decent drills......I have rated her too low if she can run similar this afternoon on a fast track.......needs to avoid a nasty duel with the horse to the inside of her
race 5 Â Â below average clarity
5  Raised a Secret  3 wide stalking moves have been golden at Lrc since they laid done the new surface and that is what this horse seems to appreciate
1  W. Giles  owns a very high level of early speed and sure appreciates racing at 5 1/2 furlongs.........seems likely to shake free early........he has steadily improved since Mulhall took over the training duties 4 races back.........deserves a shot at the big time especially at today's abbreviated sprint distance
3  Wild Dude  5 1/2 furlongs might be a little short for this stout six-year-old but he sure is the most accomplished runner in the field .......and....... if King Jerry believes he can get up in time.....that is good enough for little old me
race 6 Â Â average clarity
3  Starship Samurai   strong forward move in 2nd lifetime start run off of 2 weeks rest......and it is somewhat disguised by a bad trip.....so his last sure appears to be a gimme in a protected race to drop and go back in 2 weeks rest once again
4  Lucky Tommy  Brian Koriner has a dismal history with 1st timer starters but this 4 yr old gelding sure is training sharply at LA and is too hard to ignore......Koriner might snatch his 1st win with a 1ster in many a moon
7  Deputy Dane   D'Amato is stout 3rd out following a layoff especially when the 3rd start is off of short rest which is the case today.......bug boy is struggling but not when he rides for Phil D'Amato
5  Jet Seeker  Â
race 7 Â Â below average clarity
7  Soi Phet   tepid top selection is by far at his best at Lrc (4 2 1 0) and seems best at today's one mile distance........barn is likely all out today as obviously there are few opportunities to run at Lrc every year....top jock in Desormeaux sticks around
1  Avanti Bello  2 for 4 at the distance and 0 for 5 at other main track distances.......appreciates contact with the front end and should get it here.....seems pointed for this race by O'Neill with some solid preparatory works
5  Poshsky  nice 27 to 1 wake-up in his last snatching 3rd in a Grade 3 on the grass.......back in 7 days for Miller and company......likely feeling really good for the crafty trainer to wheel his $350K money earner back so quick
4 Â Boozer
race 8 Â Â above average clarity
8  Sheswildnfree  on the improve since Peter Eurton took over the training responsibilities......and her work-outs since her latest are improved .....1st around 2 turns but her best was at 7F so I doubt another furlong and turn will matter much especially at this level of racing
2  Blue Chat  good with ample time between starts and gets it today........eye popping 58:2 drill just nine days ago.......first for this 3 yr old filly vs older but seems up to the task.....stout rider/trainer combo
3  Lob City  fits fine in this spot but this four-year old filly sure shows signs of developing into a hanger......maybe a new jock in Victor Espinoza can change the trend
1 Â Lzzy's Tizzy
6 Â Stll Spinning
