Los Alamitos for Thursday 8 September 2016
Opening two days in the Spring at Lrc were outside biases. In fact the track rarely has had a rail bias since they started racing on the new surface and has had an outside bias (to some degree) about 50% of the time.Â
Best of luck as always!
race 1 Â Â average clarity
6  Mr T Bird  turf horse can't handle the bottom level so the connections  say you can have him if you want and drops a level he can compete on the dirt
7  Allovertwistabout  blinkers on.....bullet work......race 2 back fits and that is disguised (poor start and wide on a rail day)....definitely can see a rebound to 2015 form
5  Jackson Sundown  better speed and more importantly better finishes at Lrc (4 1 2 1)
3 Â Frat Boy
race 2 Â Â below average clarity
3  Quorum of Joy  diminishing sort and I doubt he fires his last but he only needs about 80% of his latest effort where he was caught wide up on the pace and still ran 2nd vs. tougher
6  Skookum Spirit  finally graduated in 7th lifetime race and well spotted today to win again......and his only race at Lrc is one of his best
5  Outthink'em  might be at his best on the Lrc surface.....seems sharper in the a.m. than prior to his last couple of endeavors
8 Â Brother Soldier
race 3 Â Â average clarity
3  Dramatic Angel  three-year old has faced better in last couple of races.....drop for today seems like a good thing as this fellow has run 1st and a solid 2nd the only two times he dropped in claiming
4  Selection  gelding is seemingly at his best at Lrc and was just claimed in his latest by Craigmyle who is having one of his best years in a while.........and he and Vinnie Bednar are 2 for their last 3
5  Tiz Love  drop makes sense and he gets to stay "home" to run......2 of his 5 lifetime races fit fine here
race 4 Â Â average clarity
4  Councilman  six-year-old has turned into one consistent runner in 2016.......just claimed back by Angela Aquino at 60% higher than she lost her gelding for.......seems very sharp and likes the Lrc
8  Desert Express  might be at his best at 5 1/2 furlongs.....only race at Lrc fits and it is a hidden effort and run at 5 1/2 furlongs.....such a deal
6  Legitimate  always runs a good race when Gonzo is on his back.......took 12 races to graduate and is well spotted to win once again
2 Â Deer DecarchyÂ
race 5 Â Â average clarity
9  True Testament  Hollendorfer two-year old filly sure seems ready for her MSW debut as she hasn't missed a beat in the a.m. since her 1st listed work on 24 June....and Smith shows up for the mount.......hmmm
7  Honor Maker  Baltas 1st timer finished off her a.m. preparation with 5 consecutive 5F works and her last was only 4 days ago and her very best.........feeling good when it counts the most.......... as in right before her debut
6  Fact Of Life  useful MSW debut for this Baffert 1st timer....likely needs a little more today and might provide it
3 Â Nightengale Miss
race 6 Â Â average clarity
5  Professor Cinch  broke slowly and then checked back some more......sat far back and made up a lot of ground earning an adjusted for trouble Santucci fig a couple of lengths better than par.....better start with the same effort and graduation has a good chance at occurring
7  Runbrorun  loose on the lead was good........running on a somewhat dead rail was not.......bascally has done little wrong in both lifetime races on a "fast" rated track.....should be in the mix from the opening bell
1  Atomic Action  nice forward move in 2nd lifetime start.....that race has some shot here but likely needs another small forward move again......like our 2nd choice should be in the hunt from the get go.......cut back of 1/16th appears to be a plus
8 Â Royal Rebel
Long-shot consideration:  6  Carson  trainer isn't bad with maiden claimers although he has something to prove with 1st starters......like the 3 extremely tightly spaced works (3 and 4 days apart) to finish a.m. preparation.....Van Dyke shows up for one mount.....believe it to be a live one
race 7 Â Â below average clarity
9  Carlos Dangerous  fits the conditions of this race awfully well........won by 9L at 16K in his last.....appeared to win with something in reserve and wheels back in 2 weeks.......good history with Perez up
2  Hawk's Eyes  last three routes fit fine here.....and like our top choice he might feel great coming off a soft paced (likely stress free) gate to wire win
6  L's Choice  not so much in 2016 (off year for the trainer) but V Garcia used to be dynamite 1st following a claim....that is the case today......last race at Lrc fits which was run last April
3 Â Atascaderan
race 8Â Â average clarity
9  Rocky's Rainbow  Puype has been very successful with drop down MSW to maiden claimers coming off of layoffs the last 3 months or so.....that is the case here.....hot rider/trainer combo to boot
7  Sunset Sandy  nice move forward in 2nd lifetime start at LA vs. the boys.......that effort seemingly fits if she can get the added distance today.....closed in her two lifetime abbreviated sprints as if she will
1  Unbreakable Vow  have a feeling Harrington saved this 1st timer for Lrc as he gets to debut at his home course.........last 5 drills have come at 6 day intervals......might be wound up and ready
10 Â Madera Jubilee
2 Â Lady Pilot
5 Â Turf Club Queen
