Santa Anita for Sunday 6 November 2016
OK race card to finish the SA meeting. Looking forward to one of my favorite meetings, the Del Mar fall meet.Â
Best of luck as always!
race 1 Â Â average clarity
4  Lucky Dolly   SCRATCHED OUT
3  Bona Fide Image  no support at the windows in debut so that tells me there is upside today for this Spawr two year old filly......and his filly showed she can run some losing 4 of 5 lengths with a troubled journey and still ran 4th beaten 3 3/4L
6  Lofty Cause  takes that magical drop out of MSW racing to maiden claiming........lifetime best was run off of ample rest of 58 days......50 days since her latest........1st time Bejarano.........sure seems meant and ready to roll
2 Â Friendly Request
race 2 Â Â average clarity
10 True Testament  both lifetime dirt races are par like for the given level and the latest is hidden.......and the works since her last are improved......believe she is sitting on a strong effort but I am a touch leery about her pedigree to handle the sod.......Hollendorfer and friends and Rosario and his agent likely think she will....that's good enough for little old me
13 With Love  double barrel action from Jerry H as he also trains our top pick....... broke slowly and moved wide stalking a decent pace and predictably faded late.........never easy to break from a far outside outer most post but if she does she should be with the leaders and formidable down the stretch
4  Diva La Mousse  Baffert's young filly is improving and seems like the most likely leader in the race......she did tire late down the hill in her last to run 2nd despite a semi-soft pace.......but if she improves once more I doubt she will flatten enough in the late stages to get caught
12Â Yuvetsi
Â
race 3 Â Â average clarity
10 Trixie Topper  SCRATCHED OUT
7 Hayley's Comment  failed on the drop into claiming and now drops again cutting claiming price in half.....likely not in the best shape physically but Bejarano accepts the mount so maybe there is one or two efforts left in this filly before she needs a trip to the farm ....we will see
8 Liana Skye  two of five lifetime races fit well fig wise here including her last......and her trainer J Wong does decently when shipping into S Cal now and then......dangerous sort
1Â Bold At Night
race 4 Â Â average clarity
8 Lamu  best efforts/figs are at SA and her latest at The Great Race Place was quite impressive running way too wide and still closing well for 2nd in the 10 Oct version of this race.....jock owes the connections a better ride.....hope they get it
6 Clude  Gary Sherlock is not only hot but many of his recent winners have been running over their head.......useful last for gelding and back in short rest with strong recent a.m. work......likely sitting on a big race if Sherlock continues the Midas touch
3 Blanket of Ice  Puype takes over the training responsibilities for this three year old and drops his new shooter multiple levels.....and has he ever been using multiple level drops to get to the circle of joy.....,,,,as in 5 for his last 8........dangerous sort for sure
7Â GavinationÂ
Long-shot consideration:  4 Scatastic  nice layoff effort and with no support at the windows hinting Brocklebank didn't have his runner fully cranked up ......if that is so we should see enough out of this gelding this afternoon to make him a player even in this decent group of cheap conditioned. claimers
race 5 Â Â average clarity
10 Pappa De Gatto  fresh speed is dangerous speed and Glatt is dynamite off of long layoffs with these kind.......bullet best of 54 4F gate work at SA one week ago
3 Black Tie 'n Tails  another who put in a bullet work a week ago.......and draws Prat for the 1st time......takes a small drop but is up for a tag day for the 1st time since his maiden claiming debut when he scored his lone lifetime win and did so by 6 3/4 lengths......hmmm
8 Alright Alright  seems like a logical drop (as opposed to a "claim me please" one) into cond claiming as he has shown he doesn't belong in alw racing.......dangerous sort for Carava who is having a good meeting and year
5Â Nuke Laloosh
Long-shot consideration:  2 Contemplate his latest long on the turf appears to be nothing more than a muscle him up and add some staying power to be fit and ready dropping into claiming for the 1st time.....believe this fellow isn't nuts about dirt racing but his chances of handling it seem enhanced running turf to dirt especially off of a turf route
race 6 Â Â average clarity
5 Zindaya  slow runners inside this Chad Brown five year old should put her on the rail at least thru turn one and with one of the top turf jocks aboard in Castellano....in fact she should sit on the lead or very close to it in a race lacing speed....basically a sprinter but the race scenario sure appears to set in her favor
4 Majestic Heat  exits what might turn out to be a key race to some degree as the winner (Avenge) came back to run a close 3rd in the Breeders Cup yesterday ironically with today's rider Prat up........Prat best need sit far back as he did in her last race but like he did 2 back stalking the lead
7 Tiz a Kiss  believe Desormeaux will send here from his outer-most post setting this mare up in good position (sitting 2nd, 3rd or 4th) as the pace should be slow.....ignore this mares weak record on SA turf as all but her latest was on the old SA turf course.....that poor history should help her price
1 Nancy From Nairobi  3 wins and a 2nd in 4 races at the distance
race 7 Â Â below average clarity
2 Eleutheros  Martin Garcia was really struggling in early Oct so the switch to Bejarano (esp. battling for the riding title) is big.......solid MSW debut and at only 1/2 furlong less than today......4 works since.......sure seems like the one to overcome for many dangerous looking 1st timers in the race
6 Seau  double barrel action from Hollendorfer as he also trains our top selection......this filly ran a solid MSW debut which was only at 5 1/2 furlongs.....and her pedigree seems much better for an extended sprint of 7 furlongs......and I like that her works since her debut are at SA whereas before they were at LA
11 Beach Bum  very impressive work regiment for this Baffert 1ster the kind work series that should have his new shooter well prepared to get seven panels at 1st asking
7Â Cistron
race 8 Â Â average clarity
10 Bad Ju Ju  trainer Miller has been on fire 1st out following a claim and he appears to have made a good one here......and he makes a major rider upgrade for a filly who already fits on numbers......likely will lose her today so Miller will likely pull out all stop to have her feeling goooood
9 Fantasy of Luck  most accomplished runner in the field should be in the mix the opening bell.....seems by far at her best at SA and this his her last opportunity to run at SA until late December.......should be tough
3 Always Believe  nice win (and a forward move) in 2nd lifetime start back in Feb.......so........ 2nd out after an extended layoff should produce a similar move forward this afternoon....and her layoff run was quite good
6Â Skye Diamonds
Long-shot consideration:  2 Asian Way  last fits and it is disguised by a bad trip.....and today we get a rider upgrade.......fits here and might go off double digits
race 9 Â Â average clarity
8 Trojan Nation  very powerful grass race in latest at 1/8th less than today and the one furlong more she faces today seems like a plus....runs well with ample time between starts and gets it.....nice work series....should be tough
12 Buster Douglas  beat 14 of 16 foes to run an upset 3rd in a Grade 1 in Brazil....won her previous two lifetime races before that......Brazil racing isn't Argentina but her effort in her last back in May should fit in a nw alw race in S Cal.......and the 10 furlongs is a plus and won't be for quite a few in this affair
11 I'malreadythere  like are top selection this colt ran a solid effort in the Del Mar Derby.....and with Pereira taking our 2nd choice we get an upgrade to Bejarano.....such a deal
1Â Aldrin
2Â Oso
6Â Formulate
