Santa Anita for Friday 3 February 2017
Rain is in the Arcadia area so keep an eye out to any changes because of it.
Best of luck as always!
race 1 Â Â average clarity
(if the race is taken off of the turf: 10-9-4-1-2)
1  Zinvor  despite not having won on the hill (4 0 1 3) he has run some very solid races down it including his last......seems likely to stalk our 3rd selection who often gets vulnerable very late in these SA hill affairs.....good rider/trainer combo
9  Number Five  Baltas is red-hot winning 2 more yesterday and might have this laid up new member to his barn ready.......and if he does lookout as the switch in trainers is very positive......six year old is (4 1 0 1) on the hill
2  Rangi  very consistent down the hill but his abilities have been diminishing with time.....but.......still dangerous here as he seemingly gets what he wants as in a loose lead......retains Bejarano.......Miller trainer.....hard to ignore
10 Â Zuri Chop
race 2 Â Â average clarity
3  Broadway Nika  last fits and his race two back is even stronger.......takes a two level drop to the new bottom level S Cal level of 6,250.....drop makes sense as he hasn't found the circle of joy since March......connections might be smiling wide today
4  Benba  sprint-sprint-route scenario and short rest.....right up Jack Carava's alley.........and drops......dangerous sort especially if our top selection falters
5  Celebrity Status  another making a multi-level drop......eigth year old gelding ran a decent sprint race off of 7 weeks rest for new trainer Brocklebank.......gets ample rest between starts (9 weeks).....can he produce a similar effort at a route.......we shall see
2 Â Gavination
race 3 Â Â average clarity
6  Special Gal  filly has shown she can handle a route of ground at least on the sod....but her lifetime best was in her lone dirt race albeit in a sprint.....so..... as well as she has run on turf route races I doubt handling a dirt route will be a problem
1  Yellow Bonnet  last might have been a tune-up of sort on the grass to muscle up and be at full throttle on the dirt which she seems to prefer......1st at a route is a question mark or would have been top selection
5  Warrior Vixen  her last race which was run way back in June was a decent better than appears 1st ever at a route race.........works hint she might be fully fit for her layoff effort......not out of the picture in this affair if she is
race 4 Â Â average clarity
(if the race is taken off of the turf: 13-11-6-8-1-2)
8  My Aunt Tillie  two consecutive turf routes should help the stamina of this filly as should the 7 lbs weight break with the decent bug boy up.......can be in the mix from the get go for her 1st down the SA hill
9  Starlite Style  lifetime best and with 1st time Bejarano up was made in her last racing endeavor way back in August.......she ran well in her MSW debut so being "fresh" today might be OK......and Bejarano is back aboard......trainer is doing better at the SA meeting than appears in print
6 Â Tahitian Lagoon
Long-shot consideration:  7 Rare Integrity  toss only turf race as she likely was injured in the race......toss out conventional dirt races as she dislikes the "real thing".....solid AW sprint without blinkers like today.......AW ability often transfers to turf ability especially when you own a good pedigree for the turf........should be a handsome price
race 5 Â Â average clarity
5  Hot Rodin  sharp in the a.m. and seemingly speed of the speed with only 5 1/2 furlongs to last.......should be tough
7  Jet Set Man  likely will need to rate as the 3 and the 5 can fly.......and if he can he might be in the driver's seat sitting in a nice stalk position behind a an anticipated lively pace
3  Smack Talk  SCRATCHED OUT OF THE RACE  ke are top pick he has some high-octane early speed.....but Baze who has done well riding this guy takes our top pick.....maybe because this fellow is (3 0 0 0) at SA
8 Â K Thirty Eight
race 6 Â Â above average clarity
5  It Tiz Well  won by 10L to break her MSW two back.......then ran 2nd in a Grade 2 despite a wide trip fairly close to a brutal pace.......faces much softer today......very reassuring fast 5F drill since.....should be tough and then some (at least on a fast rated surface)
7  Ruby Trust  good improvement in her 2nd lifetime start to graduate in decent time/fig.....but will need more today unless our top choice slips some and/or has a bad trip
2  Diamondinthecenter  connections likely are doing a rain dance as this girl sure woke up on an off track in her last.....dangerous if the rain keeps coming
4 Â Partyinthepaddock
race 7 Â Â average clarity
(if the race is taken off of the turf: 3-7-6-1-9)
3  Perfect Pic  great spot if this filly takes to the grass in her 1st on it as she looks loose and lonely and with the rails way out at 30 feet.....and her pedigree for the sod seems adequate
5  Sweet Charity  solid race in her 1st ever in the good old U S of A.......could have won this level in that race if she didn't get blocked.....jock upgarde......consistent sort....should be a major player
4  Sheza Milky Way  won her last 2 of 3 grass races when she got firm turf.....does she get firm turf today?
6  Lily Kai  SCRATCHED OUT OF THE RACE
race 8 Â Â average clarity
11  Downside Up  like the cut back to a sprint which seems to fit him better.......and he sure perked up in the a.m. since his last at a route........might be sitting on his best in quite some time
10  Soft Trip  shocking bad trip 2nd at 58 to 1 in laatest.....would have won for fun with a cleaner trip......dangerous if he is up for similar today.....low % jock in general but he is off to a good start at the meeting
2  If Ur Not Early  decent early speed ......Baze should be able to get the inside if he wants it....and Baze sure has done some magic with ground saving trips so far at the new meeting
