Santa Anita for Sunday 15 October 2017
Not too enamored with the card as in a 4 on the 1 to 10 scale of things.
Best of luck as always!
race 1Â Â average clarity
4 Camino Del Paraiso  handles the sod just fine and he has never raced at 9F on it......does today and that might make for a very good result as he is 2 for 2 at the distance on the synthetic and both races were arguably his best two races of his career
5 My Italian Babbo  2 for 2 on the grass and he has shown he can run well fresh which is the case today not having run since the 29th of July......1st ever as far as 9F and his pedigree hints that might not be what he wants.....but......he has the hottest rider around in Nakatani to get the 9F out of him
3 Giant Influence  very sharp right now on the dirt....his recent races fit just fine if he can run similar on the grass....toss out lone race on the grass as he needed 8+ months to get back to the races after the race..... hinting....... things went bad physically speaking in the race........ that and mom has tossed 2 grass winners from 5 others
8Â Unapologetic
Long-shot consideration:  2 Prince of Arabia  ran a strong turf race off of an 8 month break last May......racing off of a 5 month layoff this afternoon might be a piece of cake
race 2Â Â above average clarity
1 Tiki Bar Logic  ran very strong races the two times his connections saw fit to drop her in claiming.........that is also the case today ......back to Desormeaux who coaxed the best ever out of this filly two races back in a race also run at today's one mile distance
2 Yalla  solid support at the windows in April in her MSW debut......been away since and returns in a bottom level maiden claimer........Bruce Headley is solid off of layoffs and also decent 1st time at a route.....dangerous sort
8 Dadlani  decent MC debut especially considering it was in a route race as few MC 1st timers do well in route races.......not out of this if this filly logically benefits from the effort.....does need a clever ride from Elliot from post 8
3Â DedicationÂ
race 3Â Â average clarity
8 Summer's Indy  MSW debut over at Lrc was better than it appears in print.....3 works since the 16 Sept. race hint that she is feeling good......rider upgrade to the red-hot Nakatani
2 Wish You Were Mine  exits a very fast heat of MSW runners on 6 August where getting beat by 15L with the wide trip she had was not too bad of an effort.......at the time Hollendorfer was rather cold.....he's not cold now.......Smith stays put
6 Ms Bad Behavior  both lifetime races for this Baltas filly fit very well here both in pace and final time.....so why placed so low you say?.......a.m. preparation for today seems to be less than that prior to her 1st two racing endeavors
4Â Rancor
Long-shot consideration:  5 Mapit  seems like she has a gate to wire shot here off of some impressive a.m. work following two races where she showed speed and then stopped........very aggressive tightly spaced drills........believe she shows quite of bit of improvement this afternoon
race 4Â Â below average clarity
9 Alaskan Son  very strong well hidden race 2 back on the turf........then he sat way too off of a pedestrian pace to make any impact in the stretch......seems to appreciate ample time between starts and gets it........race 2 back might be in the cards
8 Van Cortland  Cerin is having a good meeting and so is Elliot who has snapped out of a prolonged slump........they team up here......works for this fellow are vastly improved since the claim by Cerin......suggesting.......that he might have the trump card for this gelding
1 Pacific Coast Highway  facing softer today following 3 straight alw races........that and the cut back in distance should aid this colt's finish when push comes to shove in the late stages of this 9F grass race
2Â Red King
Long-shot consideration:  4 Pampers n' Boots  total lack of speed in this 9F turf race and this three-year old gelding might have the most......and with Roman up and his 5 lbs weight break he might not be easy to wheel in
race 5Â Â above average clarity
6 Mourinho  very strong MSW debut win racing wide up on the pace and still managing to win by 4 1/2 widening lengths......reassuring 4F work since......Smith gets the mount with Van Dyke elsewhere......he could use a win and might snatch one here with this stout pick up mount
4 Beautiful Shot  another who broke their MSW at 1st asking.....and like our top choice he won despite not the best of trips......works since the race he hints he is going to show even more today.....tough brother team at the helm
5 Here Is Happy  won his maiden debut in a MC80K......and then is a small Stakes race he broke a little tardy and then ran on a slightly dull inside....race is stronger than it appears in print.....not impossible
race 6Â Â below average clarity
10 II Secreto  toss last as he likely didn't care for an 11F marathon......race two back is very strong and was the 1st out following the Hess claim.......believe he might be up to that race two back if of course he takes to the SA hill turf course
3 Banze No Oeste  vet scratch on 4 Sept at the 40K level.....works since hint he has bounced back and likely in OK health.......now he is in a 25K race.....and with a decent history down the majestic Santa Anita hill turf course
6 My Man Chuckles  likes to run off of short rest and he does just that today.......seems likely to sit about 2nd - 3rd or 4th at the 1st call in a race that seems to favor those up close early......O'Neill is ice-cold and sure could use his 2nd win of the meeting
1Â Special Season
race 7Â Â average clarity
5 Out of Patience  might be a very good claim by Hollendorfer of gelding who appears to be on the improve....and he gets a great spot in a protected race.....last run at one mile at Dmr is solid here if he can can run as well in a 5 1/2F sprint.......good history on the SA dirt
3 Pray Hard  physically speaking he has seen better days....but I find it interesting that O'Neill has him in a race where he can't be claimed.......might be feeling better....lookout if he is
7 Cherokee Dynasty  good history when racing at 5 1/2F or 6F......high percentage trainer (31%) in Jose Moreno......four year old gelding should make a good account of himself if the so so jock can give him a decent ride
6Â One More Roll
race 8Â Â average clarity
4 Oh Newman  big race 2 back and was claimed by Pender.....not much on the step up in claiming in his last.......but now steps down below where the connections claimed him for.....and Pender is quite dangerous 2nd out following a claim......needs the effort 2 back and if he gives it he should be tough on or near the front end
1 Roman Tizzy  another who if he finds his effort run two races back would be very solid this afternoon......trainer's hot and usually live when he legs up Desormeaux
7 South Texas Lingo  plenty of early speed signed up and that should flatter the late run of this Dallas Keen four-year old gelding......race two and three back fit well albeit were in turf affairs
2Â Jensen
race 9Â Â average clarity
3 Night Bloom  never easy to win a MSW turf route debut but the a.m. work of this Sise 1st time starter is too strong to ignore.......Sise seldom rides Arroyo but when he does the mounts are usual live.....and this filly sure owns a nice grass and distance pedigree
1 Pantsonfire toss out her last as a legitimate fig wasn't capable of happening with such a slow set of fractions being set.....race two back which was her her 1st in the USA is solid....and back to C Nak who was up that day
7 Sasini  all 3 turf routes run in GB seem like they would fit just fine here.....rather sure Simon Callaghan has this filly ready off of a solid prolonged work series for her first ever race in the U S of A
4Â No Cats Allowed
5Â Took the High Road
9Â Eternal Endeavor
