Del Mar for Thursday16 November 2017
Short on comments for awhile as I just had cataract surgery on one eye and I get easily worn down using the computer screen and studying. It likely will have to be this way for some time to come as one eye is done with the other yet to worked on. Sorry about that.
Best of luck as always!
race 1Â Â Â average clarity
2 Conqueror  somewhat suspicious that Cerin and company to not raise this maiden up in claiming price as her latest which was only her 2nd ever on the dirt was extremely strong........but then again Cerin has been on a roll and might be very addicted to that winning feeling
7 Artistic Ab  both races at Del Mar on the dirt and at MC40K fit well and the 2nd one is disgusted by a brutal trip.....muscle him up turf tightener in last in a protected race........should be primed for a good effort back in a dirt MC40K sprint at Dmr
4Â Antioch
5Â Chidamac
race 2Â Â Â average clarity
2 Lovely Anzi  blinkers off and that is alarm bell time for Baltas who has won at a 32% rate with his last 59 "blinkers off".......and the recent bullet 4F work supports the notion of an improved effort today
4 Well Developed  three-year old gelding has done little wrong in two lifetime starts and that is more significant that it normally is as both were grass route races.......trainer is rather dismal repeating right after winning a maiden race with a given horse but this one returns in 20 dys and with a solid work....shot to break to mold today
5Â The Big Train
1Â Six Point Rack
race 3Â Â Â average clarity
7 Sandbed  SCRATCHED OUT OF THE RACE  his debut race two back is two or three length better than par for today's lower level when you adjust for a boat load of trouble......broke about 6 lengths slow and ran wide on rail bias day........well hidden......to say the least
1 American Currency  voided claim in last but ample time to recover.............what a great time to drop lower with some doubt in the minds of the claiming vultures......trainer is dynamite statistically with beaten favorites which is the case today for this Truman runner
5Â Old School Mike
9Â Snazzy Dresser
race 4Â Â Â average clarity
6 Anatolian Heat  very consistent turf sprinter.....hot trainer.....rider upgrade......won his last 5 F sprint at Del Mar (3 races back) quite easily......hard not to like
1 Incensed 10 for 11 in the exacta "at the distance" on the turf.......Miller trained......Pratt in the irons......a "no brainer" to like
3Â Tough Sunday
4Â Zuri Chop
race 5Â Â Â average clarity
2 Lea's Reward  vastly improved since Baltas took over the training duties two races back......filly appears best at Del Mar which might be the impetus for the barn to have her ready "fresh" with a solid work regiment......as this is likely her last opportunity to run at Dmr until summer of 2018
1 Road Test  solid well hidden turf to dirt race on August 23rd at Del Mar.......turf race in last - dirt race today....and drops into softer where she should finally be a player
6Â Tiz Adore
7Â Warrior Vixen
race 6Â Â Â below average clarity
3 Enayat Alsalam  just bought in July and for the sire $140K is expensive....that and the breeder is someone I know (but did not talk to about this 1ster) and he is one sharp nice guy......numerous works as Salder is much better than average with maiden debut turf runner
5 Silken Spy lone proven turf runner in the field and appears best at the 5F of turf that Dmr has to offer.......should be in the mix from the get go .....such a deal in a race filled with "unknowns"
4Â Sensible Myth
9Â Secret Causeway
Long-shot consideration:  1 Hope Wins  prolonged work regiment......decent turf pedigree.....and it is hard to not consider a D'Amato turf 1ster with a ML of 20 to 1
race 7Â Â Â above average clarity
3 El Huerfano  seems like a good time to drop following a dull effort.......race 2 back is exceptionally strong as he was caught 3 wide up on a nasty set of fractions......very consistent when Miller puts this gelding in allowance races
1 Ike Walker  loves Dmr (5 3 1 0) and scratched out of a race on Sunday in a spot that he appeared to be the one to beat.....and his stout a.m. prowess supports the notion why he elected today's tougher spot
4Â Avanti Bello
race 8Â Â Â average clarity
2 Amazon Cry  6 lengths of trip adjustment in both of his last two racing endeavors hides the strength of his efforts (both about 3L better than par) and both were at today's 9F turf distance.....should be in the mix from the opening bell
6 Principal Bob  lifetime best was his only race on the grass without blinkers racing at 9 furlongs on the sod......the race was run off of 42 days rest.......9F of turf today without blinkers racing off of 41 days rest......hmmmm
5Â Winning Element
3Â Acker
9Â Perfection Tale
12Â Taniko
