Del Mar for Saturday 18 November 2017
Short on comments for a while as I just had cataract surgery on one eye and I get easily worn down using the computer screen and studying. It likely will have to be this way for some time to come as one eye is done with the other yet to worked on.Â
Best of luck as always!
race 1Â Â average clarity
4 Little Juanito  1st on the sod in his latest and that is where he might stay for awhile as he fired an impressive 5F grass race that is hidden by a tough trip.......rider upgrade today.......better post........trainer is snapping out of a slump
5 Air On Fire  cut back in turf distance and two consecutive bullet drills (blinkers off today) since his latest.......needs a move forward and seems likely to provide one
8Â Cats Blame
2Â Uncle Billy
race 2Â Â average clarity
7 Red Carpet Cat  getting good fast as this is his 3rd straight step up in claiming.......race two back fits and is disguised by a 3 wide trip on a rail bias day......likely feels good for Belvoir to send him out off of only 6 days rest
8 True Valor  only dirt race run at Del Mar which was run 3 back fits well and is hidden some......2nd out after a break and two nice looking works since his latest on 26 Oct.......hard not to like
3Â The Critical Way
4Â Burn Me Twice
race 3Â Â below average clarity
3 Helen's Tiger  risky drop into maiden claiming so O'Neill and company are very likely to have this two year old filly very ready for today's race as she might might be claimed.......work regiment since her 5 Oct. race supports the notionÂ
2 Lucky Stash  Miyadi 1st time starter is training like she is ready......that and mom has tossed 3 winners from 3 starters and one of them was a Stakes winner....should go off a price with Franco up
7Â Artistic Ministry
8Â Wicked Sunset
race 4Â Â below average clarity
2 Buck Duane  Miyadi youngster should be on or near the lead in his 1st on the grass which he owns a good pedigree for that by my book is the best in the field .....good route pedigree as well......good post and rider......hard not to support
9 Infuriated Gary  believe this D'Amato 1ster is ready to roll......draws a difficult post for a baby but Nakatani will be doing the driving......so....... the outside post is less of a concern
8Â Jersey's Heat
1Â Hardboot
race 5Â Â above average clarity
6 Dream Tree  cold trainer in Baffert but he seemingly can get his 2nd win of the Del Mar meeting with this filly who ran wide up on the pace and still won........blinkers off for her 2nd start and two very solid 6F works put in presumably with them off......should love the 7F distance
2 Ms Bad Behavior  Baltas filly is on the improve and graduated with a powerful run/time which was supported by gaps to 2nd, 3rd, and 4th.....and considering how well she finished at 6 1/2 one would surmise 7F should be to her liking
3Â Midnight Bisou
race 6Â Â average clarity
7 Bowie  Mandella three year old filly can really fly and should be sharp 2nd out after a long hiatus from the game........turf pedigree is decent.......turf rider is better than decent...... especially with young grass runners like this filly
1 Lajatico  O'Neill and company are likely risking this filly for 40K today because she sure appreciates 5F on the grass.....and.....she likely won't be able to get 5F on the grass in S Cal until the summer Del Mar meeting
8Â Go Argento
3Â Painting Corners
race 7Â Â average clarity
4 Party Hostess  filly broke poorly and rushed (too much) yet still almost won the 6 Oct. version of this race ........likes ample time between starts and Hollendorfer shows patience and gives it to her....should be very tough provided she handles his 1st ever on the Dmr dirt
5 Go On Mary  best at today's 6F distance and also seems best on the Dmr dirt.......good sign that O'Neill puts her back in a protected race and retains Pratt
8Â Princess Dorian
3Â Reckless Charm
race 8Â Â average clarity
4 Radio Silence  might have needed his last which was his 1st endeavor in the good old U S of Aand was run following a 5 month layoff.......owns some races in Ireland which appear very solid for today's given level.....that and Baltas is 24% win with his last 55 "2nd start with trainer"
9 Harbour Master last 3 one mile grass races fit well.......his adjusted #'s are strong.......would have been top choice if it wasn't for the fact he seems to find trouble in his races even with the exceptionally skilled Desormeaux aboard
8Â Hootie
1Â Thorpe d'Oro
race 9Â Â below average clarity
1 Braddock  (4 2 2 0) with apprentice riders on his back.....and he has the top S Cal apprentice up today......seems like a ton if he runs the same race as he did in his last.....but I am concerned that he only shows one work since that 14 Oct race
3 Gentrified   nice forward move in last and he might be up for another one as Pratt remains up and his a.m. work since his 21 Oct race is stout
6Â My Man Chuckles
4Â Bolitar
8Â Make It a Triple
