Los Alamitos for Friday 15 December 2017
Last week of racing for the Thoroughbreds at Los Alamitos. Opening day Santa Anita as usual is on the 26th of December. Looking forward to the winter meeting and the "freshness" that it brings.

1 Sophie Del Sol  like her two lifetime races at GG on the synthetic......and they both were better than appear in print......seems like a great spot to ship as those that have run aren't too much.......trainer is a stellar 29% over his last 130 shippers......1st on the conventional dirt and 1st at a route are ? marks
6 Cee Sam's Girl  lifetime best (by quite a bit) and a fit here is the only time this filly got to run in a route race at Lrc......and the trainer at the time of this writing was a had a win - a place - and a show with three starters at this meeting
2 Misty Slew  moved forward some in latest and she might fit Lrc better as the only time she has hit the board was the only opportunity she has had to compete on the unusual oval.......sprint- sprint- route scenario

4 Ucanthankmelater  back to T C Baze (after being absent for a race) who seems to get the most out of this gelding and back in only 8 days....the last win for this youngster came the last time he was back in short rest.....the race was 5 back at Lrc and at a route and run off 13 days rest
3 Broadway Nika  likes the track and the distance and his latest is strong.....would have made top pick if not for the fact he doesn't run back to back solid efforts too often
1 South Texas Lingo  Vladimir Cerin has had a dynamite 2nd half of 2017 and a good portion of his wins have come 1st following a claim which is the case here.....meets runaway leader takes the call

2 Time for Cioppino  two-year old gelding might be on a rebound of sorts to his form shown last summer......but maybe more importantly the five 1st time starters he faces appear weak.....so.....even his last effort has an opportunity of getting the job done
4 North County Guy  Art Sherman 1st time starter is working decently and definitely the best of the 5 1sters in this affair........that and mom has tossed 3 winners from 3 starters
1 Tiz Proof  2nd best work tab of the 5 1st timers in the race.......new to the scene rider Franco Geovanni is doing well........trainer has a weak stat to overcome as in 0 for her last 18 with 1st timer starters

5 Sapodilla  last 6 of 7 sprints fit fine for this just claimed by Robert Bean filly.......that and her latest is disguised by about 5 lengths of subtle trip trouble......should be in the mix from the get go seemingly with only one other speed type to cope with
1 Just Be Held  three-year old filly is rather consistent when she keeps her intervals between starts to 4 weeks or less......3 weeks since she raced......believe T C Baze will likely stalk our top selection.....should be a major factor in the outcome of this race
6 Coronado Cool  ultra consistent on main track surfaces (10 0 5 5).......so it is hard not to imagine that she won't be part of the battle for the win down the stretch.......but that "goose egg" stands out hinting she doesn't understand what winning is about and "hangs" in the late stages

1 Tizway That Way  2 for 2 in route races on the AW......likely got hurt in her lone race on conventional dirt which was run at Saratoga as she did not return for 9 months following the race........deserves another shot on the "real thing".......just ran lifetime best on the turf .....turf to dirt scenario combined with 2nd off the layoff scenario.....she likely will be very tough is she handles the dirt this time around
4 Backintheacademy  been absent for 8 weeks following an effort that sure fits here.....not sure how well she will handle today's layoff run but she did work a bullet best of 28 5F drill 2 weeks ago
6 Sheswitldnfree  plenty of speed up front in her latest endeavor set things up for her late running style.....might feel really good right now for her trainer to step her up multiple levels......that and the race once again seems to set up for the off pace runners to some degree

5 Johns Journey  trainer/owner got a little to ambitious following an 8K win 3 races back in mid July.......that winning effort was at Lrc at 5F off of a 55 day break.......8K claimer today......5F today........81 days since her last.......trainer wins races (34% win in 65 2017 races)
8 My Secret Affair  18 to 1 layoff last was a gimme to drop and go at today's lowly 6,250 level........Eddie Truman is 2 for his last 8 (with 3 others hitting the board) with multiple level drop downs
4 Pat the Bear  vioded claim in last but gets 3 months off to recover......low percentage trainer but no too bad with 1 1/2 to 3 month layoffs (13% last 39)......seems like the most likely to grab the lead and only has 5 furlongs to deal with

2 Be a Lady  high % trainer 1st out following a claim in Mark Glatt......and his new filly is at her best racing at today's 5 1/2 furlong distance
7 Dreamy Gal  last was poor but 3 of her 5 lifetime starts fit solidly here......and her a.m. preparation is night and day better for today's race than it was prior to her latest
6 Plane Lucky  might be a good claim by Machowsky of a Baltas filly who is rather consistent racing 6 furlongs or less.......5 1/2 furlongs today .......1st on the funky Lrc oval is a ? mark

8 D D's Lute  lifetime best was in her latest and the strength of the effort is somewhat hidden and was her 1st ever on the Lrc surface........if she fires similar today and gets a better trip she appears to be the one to overcome
7 Ride Lady Ride  Kruljac is dismal with MSW 1st time starters (2 for his last 85) but that is likely by design as he is quite good with 2nd time starters.......works at LA are solid.....and this obviously is his only shot to run at the track he trains at for many a moon.....believe Kruljac goes against the grain today
1 Ahimsa  works seem good enough and Smith shows up for one mount.........1st time starter seems "live" for Eurton and company
