Santa Anita for Thursday 15 March 2018
I see that it is raining at 4 a.m. pacific time so here we go again as in more handicapping. As far as I know The Racing Digest is the only publication in Southern California that gives you (late breaking) selections for the dirt in the grass races if rain is in the forecast.
Best of luck as always!

If the race is taken off the turf:Â 7-8-2-5-3-1
8 Wishful  1st time on Lasix in her latest and 1st time down the SA hill almost led to a visit to the winners circle.......that and we get a very significant rider upgrade from an inexperienced (low percentage) rider on the hill to a Hall of Fame jock who has seen the hill a zillion times
7 Nice Ice  brutal trip sprinting on the dirt two races back.......10L of trip adjustment led to a number that was 4L better than par.....then in her next start which was her 1st on the sod and a route she ran a race that was better than par for today's level........so if she takes to the hill she has a solid shot in this spot
2Â Get Yourself Home
1Â Starship Treasure
5Â Operandi
3 Perfect Portrait
race 2Â Â below average clarity
4 Lipster  three-year old gelding has been at his best racing at 6F at SA and that is somewhat disguised with an overall record of (4 1 0 0) at the distance........that and he has run well off of short rest in the past so back in only 12 days rest seems doable
1 Willy Tell Him  won his maiden debut and was claimed but the claim was voided.....gelded since and he has put in a work that hints he might be able to hold together for another good race.......fits quite well if he can
2Â Time for Cioppino
race 3Â Â average clarity
1 Ministertomyheart  fell off some in his latest his 3rd lifetime start but still managed 2nd.......race two back is better and much better than appears in print........broke slowly and ran wide on an inside bias........races as a 1st time gelding and with a vastly improved recent 5F work showing.......seems likely to fire lifetime best today
6 Mykeys  double barrel action for Miyadi as he also trains our top choice........1st time starter has a prolonged series of slow but very tightly spaced works which is often a sign for Miyadi that he has a debut runner ready at first asking
2Â Bourbon Dude
race 4  below average clarity
If the race is taken off the turf:Â 4-3-5-2-1-8
7 Bella Sierra  six-year-old mare has found a new home and that home is racing down the SA hill grass course.......both races down the hill are par or better........and today she gets a rider upgrade......such a deal
6 Warm It Up  both lifetime races down the majestic SA hill grass course seem good enough to be major factor in the outcome of this affair when taking in consideration today's rider upgrade
4Â Easydoes It Please
1Â Accepted
3Â Pulpitinthesky
2Â Whoa Nessie
race 5Â Â average clarity
2 Plane Lucky  away since mid December put her a.m. preparation hints she's ready to roll........by far at her best competing at Santa Anita (6 2 3 0)........ (8 0 1 2) elsewhere.....lead type only and she appears to have a good shot to get one today........call it 70/30 that she has a loose lead
5 Devil's Beauty  very consistent six-year-old mare was just claimed by O'Neill and company..........she seems likely to get a nice stalking trip which she appreciates.......six-year-old mare has a good chance to pay some big dividends for her new connections
6Â Coronado Cool
4Â Rockantharos
race 6Â Â above average clarity
5 Love a Honeybadger  dangerous trainer in Brian Koriner with speed types fresh off of the bench......and this three-year old filly is proven "fresh" as she was able to come home a winner in her MSW debut last summer.........and last but not least her works are awfully strong and support the fact she is "meant and ready"
4 Strike At Daylight  won her maiden claiming debut at 1st asking for Hector Palma........and did so in a very fast time for the given day for a MC30K restricted to three-year old fillies.......new barn today and it is a good one........last might do the trick and if Miller gets more out of her she has as good shot as anyone to get to the circle of joy
1Â Smiling Tigress
8Â Red Stitch
2Â Party Hostess
race 7Â Â below average clarity
If the race is taken off the turf:Â 8-12AE-5-3-9-1-7
8 Sturdy One  big awakening in last albeit on the dirt but at today's 6 1/2F........and.......she owns some back numbers that fit just fine for today 25K level
5 Ryder's Starlight  only race run down the SA hill (run last Oct) was at today's 25K level was a par like effort........much better grass rider up today than who rode in that race last Fall.........1st after the Cerin claim........trainer has had a terrific 2018 so far
3Â Joyable
1Â Del Mar Ann
9Â Tangled Up in Ju
7Â Charming Starlet
race 8Â Â above average clarity
2 R Cha Cha  Richard Baltas is having a solid SA meeting and is very dangerous the 1st time he takes over the training duties of a given horse........that is the case today and he sure has been able to get his new shooter to train well in preparation of today's layoff run........like the rider change and the 5 lbs weight break that apprentice rider Franklin Ceballos gets
5 Zap Again  all three races since Charles Treece claimed this colt are par or better for today's 25K nw2 claiming level.......that and this four-year old has a nice mid pack running style that should fit well in this affair with plenty of speed
6Â Uncle Billy
8Â Awesome Anywhere
4Â Particleacelerator
