Santa Anita for Sunday 10 June 2018

For me Spectacular Bid has been the best thoroughbred over the last 40 years but that has finally changed and goes to Justify. And Justify by my book is also the most magnificent looking thoroughbred over that time as well. That includes when he is standing or running. I was actually a little choked up watching him preform yesterday.

Yesterday was quite ugly. Hoping to get back on the saddle and make a rebound.

Best of luck as always!

race 1    average clarity

5  Moonlight Drive   main man is up for Jacobson in the name of Martin Pedroza.....horse ran as if he needed a race.........races 2 and 3 back are quite strong.......he has a good shot to be at that level today.......horse to beat if he is

4  Montu   great spot for a speed horse which this colt happens to be.......invades from CD off of short rest and cuts back in turf distance......2 for 2 at 6 1/2F on the AW might bode well for his chances on taking to the hill

2  Incensed   1 for 8 on the SA hill and back to the rider who got the lone win for P Miller and friends.......and this five-year old ran well down the hill in his last two races but had bad trips .......see ya Espinoza......hello Prat

race 2    above average clarity

2  Scurry   only 4 races run since starting her career on 17 Aug 16.....and hasn't raced since 25 Nov 16.......shows up in the Spawr barn for the 1st time (used to be Calhoun) and drops from MSW to MC.......works say she is "meant and ready".....rather sure she will be tough

5  Sing a Solo   strong MSW debut dueling on a dull rail and nearly winning..........not much in 2nd start and away since the 31 August race..........a.m. prowess hints she is ready just as she was in her debut

4  Veiled Heat   best of the runners that come from the back in the field especially if she can run as well on a fast surface as she did on a good rated track in her last

7  Sheza Factor

1  Becomes a Queen

race 3    average clarity

2  Tanner's Pride   (3 2 0 1) at 6F and at SA and 5 1/2F appears like it might be even a better fit.......away 11+ months but trains as if Koriner has him "meant and ready" to roll

6  Catfish Hunter   last two races are awfully strong wins which were run in Nov and then 1/2 year later in May.....latest might do the trick again and if he manages a move forward he should have been top selection

3  Fire to the Wire   (7 2 2 2) at SA and seemingly never better since the fronts were put on 3 races back.......dangerous sort gives Koriner two bullets in the race

5  Shades of Victory

race 4    average clarity

1  Awesome Heights   logically drops to get to the circle of joy.......sharp reassuring 4F preparatory work........Drysdale/Prat have won 5 of their last 9 as a team.......yikes

6  R Cha Cha   Martin Garcia seems to be snapping out of the doldrums and sits on what I believe is the speed of the speed.........like our top selection the connections seem willing to drop to win with the threat of losing their horse by way of claim

3  King Eddie   yet another risking their horse likely lured by this seldom carded 25K nw2 on the hill........won his only race down the hill in Oct. and it was a solid effort/time as a 2 year old........dangerous sort

9  Closing Time

8  Glorious Crown

race 5    below average clarity

3  Etching   on the improve with every start and one glaring stat......Ben Cecil has won 3 of his last 5 taking the blinkers off which is the case today

1  Confidentially   sure appears ready 1st out of the box for Shirreffs with copious furlongs of work put in to be prepared to handle a route in her MSW debut.......nice day for Gary Stevens yesterday looking great on his mounts

6  Loving Moment   blinkers off and another trainer who is quite dangerous with the move in D'Amato........only dirt race was poor but her pedigree hints that was an anomaly

5  Jest a Princess

2  Point Streak

race 6    average clarity

3  Wheresthemoneyjack   only race ever run at 7F for this colt was not only a 2 1/4 length win but he overcame a bad trip to win .........caught wide and did so  pressing the pace.......needed his layoff last.......should be fit and ready for his 2nd out following a long hiatus from the game

10  Trojan Time   very consistent for a cheap colt and well placed to succeed as he has been for most of his 6 race career......should be a major player

6  Dare to Enter   turf to dirt and route to 7F......and back to Bejarano who did well on this gelding the only time he rode him......dangerous sort

8  Super Echelon

5  Moonman

race 7    below average clarity

4  Restrainedvengence  trainer is usually at his best 3rd out following layoffs (25% win last 28) and that is the case here.....and this three-year old won his 3rd start of his life at two to graduate in style winning by 6L in a fast time for his age in a Sept. race which was also a one mile grass race at SA........hmmm

5  Accountability   very solid race 2 back and he sure fits solidly if he can find that race today........and his every other pattern (won - off the board - 3rd by a neck - off the board - won - off the board) is on the desired end of the pendulum

7  Fly to Mars   like the sprint - sprint - route scenario and the 7F work 11 days ago for this Miller turf horse.......and back to Prat who won his only turf mount on the gelding by 3 1/2L

2  Bird Is the Word

race 8    average clarity

5  Solomini   colt stands out here and for a trainer in Bob Baffert who won everything in sight yesterday across the Country including his biggest win of his life

1  Run Away   colt has something to prove at a route but he is 2 for 2 at SA and his trainer Simon Callaghan is often at his most dangerous 1st time he runs a given horse "long"

6  Draft Pick   big awakening to graduate in style with a 5 1/L win.......earned a number that legitimizes his attempt to compete at today's much higher Grade 3 level

race 9    average clarity

8  Tandalicious   big works prior to her debut and bet rather hard but she ran 3rd because of about 7L of trip trouble in a dirt race.....continues to train like she has a ton of talent......tries the hill today and with a pedigree and a trainer that hint she should handle the transition......that and she put in 2 sizzling drills since her mid May debut

2  Token Vow   double barrel action for D'Amato as he also trains our top selection.....solid forward move in 2nd lifetime start (both starts down the hill) and the effort is hidden by a too wide of a trip......see ya Maldonado.......heelo Bejarano

5  She's Legit   another who moved forward in her 2nd lifetime start (both on the hill) and now gets a rider upgrade from one who struggles in grass races in Espinoza to one who doesn't in Desormeaux.......and the jock is 3 for his last 7 riding for Miller

11  Don't Blame Judy

9  Stradella Road
