Opening day Del Mar. Life is good!

8  General Ike   quite impressive in the a.m. for a 16K claiming horse........only lifetime dirt race at Del Mar is good........love the 10 lbs off for today.......Hollendorfer was waking up at the end of the SA meeting and his stock has been training sharply hinting it will be go mode to start the Dmr meeting

5  Out of Patience   trainer is solid 1st following a claim and this gelding knows how to win races........last is very disguised running wide on a rail bias day and doing it pressing the pace setters

6  Popular Kid    just claimed by O'Neill who is stout 1st following a claim......last three races fit well.......and today we get a significant rider upgrade

1  Jimmy Chila   sprint-sprint-route scenario and drops into claiming for O'Neill and company......three-year old colt seems pointed and very well-meant for opening day Del Mar

3  Kylemore   not much in latest but gets enough time off to right the ship.......races two back and three back fit in this 40K claiming spot awfully well......should be in the mix from the get go

9  Ayacara   three year old has been facing tougher in almost all of his 9 lifetime races......and returns as a 1st time gelding........Keith Desormeaux is 27% win and 77% in the money with his last 30 "1st time in claiming"

3  Gonna Fly Now   last is about 9 lengths better than appears in print........wide on a rail bias......and today we get a monumental rider upgrade

7  Eighty Three   just claimed two races back by Hollendorfer and he runs back his 20K claim for the same tag once again.........gelding is very consistent only missing the board once in 14 starts at today's distance.....hard not to like

1  Lucky Staxx   needs a small forward move and if he provides it with the advantage of his 13 lbs off he should be a major player

7  Blueberry   bad trip in MSW debut and the strength of the race is disguised by slow start and a wide trip on an inside day.....and the race has turned out to be a key one......a.m. prowess since the race is vastly improved

5  Flying to the Line   SCRATCHED OUT OF THE RACE    debut fits awfully well so it might only come down to if this Miller filly can handle the Dmr surface as well as she handled the LCR surface.......we shall find out about 3:33 pacific time

4  Hot Magistrate   MSW debut sure appeared to be a tune-up.......and since the "tune-up" the works suggest the needed race did as intended........and......the trainer is much more dangerous with 2nd time starters

2  Arms Runner   good post for a 1 1/16 grass race and also a solid turf jock in Kent Desormeaux.........last two races are solid at today's level and his latest is hidden

8  Ritzy A. P.   by far at his best when Prat is on his back......that and the last two times this colt ran on the Del Mar grass he ran efforts that fit well here......also he seems likely to have the most endurance of his life coming off of a strong 10F grass race at SA

7  Ekersley   one for one at today's turf distance.......away since 2 November but he is training smartly for Scott Hanson and he has shown he can run well fresh off of the bench in the past

1  Shivermetimbers   love the work pattern for a Hollendorfer trained individual.........rather sure he is sitting on one of his best efforts to date.........only mount of the day for Mike Smith........should sit in a nice mid pack ground saving position sitting a cozy 3rd or 4th down the back-side

8  Regulate   big improvement in his latest.....if he can duplicate the effort over the Lrc surface which he is seeing for the 1st time he should be a major factor in the outcome of this race

5  Kona Coast   last is poor......previous 3 of 4 are not......blinkers on for today and with a  recent work that is improved.......might be up for a necessary rebound

7  Brill   expensive purchase is training "lights out" for Hollendorfer and company for her MSW debut......rather sure this two-year old filly has an abundance of talent

4  Vangogo   new to the S Cal racing scene trainer Luis Mendez has yet to miss the board with 8 starters most of which are young horses.........filly is sharp in morning and can really fly.........dangerous speed sort seems ready to roll

6  Angel Alessandra   another talented looking MSW 1ster this time from the Peter Miller barn......sure like the last three works coming from out of the gate........dangerous sort

2  Texas Wedge   both lifetime turf sprints are very strong........1st at a turf route is a question mark.......but.......Peter Miller worked his colt 6F and then 7F 7 days later to boost his endurance.....pedigree to handle one mile is decent

10  Calexman    back to back solid turf sprint races sets this Cerin colt up quite well for today's Stakes turf route......as does a sharp 5F drill which is his best work in quite some time.......all that and he is 1 for 1 on the Del Mar turf and the race was at today's one mile turf distance

4  Artie B Good   decent layoff turf sprint in latest run on 8 June......able to work 4 times since.........trainer has had a good year competing in S Cal.........colt appears pointed for today's race........dangerous and likely at a price

6  Super Duper Cooper   seems best at today's one mile distance.......and it also appears the Del Mar dirt is his favorite surface......appreciates ample time between starts and gets it.....hard not to like

8  Blame Joe   usually a MC20K grad does not fit at the Alw50000s level.......but this four-year old with the blinkers taken off in his latest won by 10 and did so 3 wide.....number earned fits here......should handle the distance.......Dmr surface is a ? mark

3  Fawree   solid gelding out of Dubai ran for a suspicious 40K tag in his 1st race in the USA.......claimed in the race which was at GG by Mathis.......distance fits......conventional dirt fits.......and the fact that Prat is up suggests his relative good health is intact

4  Sellwood   consistent sort drew the 12 post in his last and fired his lifetime best but the effort was wasted by a somewhat predictable brutal trip from the the outer-most 12 post.......much better post today......and the extra 1/16 today should be to his advantage

9  Blitzkrieg   R Mandella is often at his best "2nd route race" and that is the case today.......back to back bullet 6F works only 5 days apart should have this colt sharp and sitting on his lifetime best

6  Henry County   double barrel action for Richard Mandella as he also trains our top selection......useful MSW dirt sprint debut and 6 works since the 18 May race.........grass breeding is better than average.......Pratt stays put
