Del Mar for Thursday 19 July 2018

Race card seems fairly decent and the morning line on a few of our top selections are awfully big prices.

Best of luck as always!

race 1    average clarity

7  Jellybeankristine   decent improvement in latest and now drops into maiden claiming for the 1st time for start number 4......drop seems warranted......should be a major player

5  No Thanks Erik   O'Neill (won 4 on opening day) 1st time starter was purchased for $50K in March and so starting for $50K in July makes sense.........works are adequate.......top trainer/owner/rider combination

4  Watch Me Burn   better in her 2nd lifetime start.......needs another move forward in her 3rd lifetime start and she should fit vs. this bunch......solid 5F work since her last hints she might be up for better........trainer Val Brinkerhoff won a race on opening day

1  Lucille

race 2    average clarity

6  Rak City   better horse on the dirt than the turf and that is kind of disguised......very solid fig in last.....new trainer for today and with a couple of good recent drills showing suggesting he has a handle on his new addition to his barn.......6 1/2 is a good fit and it won't be for many in this affair

8  Welldidyougetit   bad trip in his maiden debut which was a MC50K down the majestic SA hill turf course.......went off at 66 to 1 odds hinting the race was a tune-up........likely fit and ready now for his 1st on the dirt where he likely was always pointed for

5  Street Zombie   2nd out after a layoff and a significant rider upgrade.........colt has a shot at being a major factor in the outcome of this MC20K

3  Laditude

2  Desolation Sound

race 3    below average clarity

6  May Girl   consistently decent 5F & 5 1/2F turf sprints in GB.......two not so hot turf routes in her two races in the USA.......5F today......sharp a.m. work........should strut her stuff today at a distance that fits

8  Pastime   low percentage trainer from the Midwest and Florida does shockingly well in S Cal.........four year old filly show be motoring hard late.......and likely at a handsome price

10  C Q Covergirl  speed of the speed and one good rider getting out of the gate quickly in Maldonado........seemingly the best shot of the 5 or 6 speed horses in the field

1  Painting Corners

3  A Little Bit Me

race 4    average clarity

6  Cylinders   dirt/turf/synthetic.......doesn't matter what surface this filly runs on she shows up every time......1st on the Del Mar dirt but her history suggests she will handle it.........N Cal trainer is able to coax Prat and his agent to take the mount.....should be a major factor in the outcome of this race

5  Lil Bit Dangerous   all three lifetime sprint races fit and she is one for one on the dirt and it was her MC debut.....takes a logical drop in claiming that should make her part of the picture for the right to be in the circle of joy

4  Bella Filomena   bit ambitiously placed in her two races since Baltas took over.......as in she couldn't win an alw race at Ded yet she competed in two of them since arriving in S Cal......she should fit fine in today's 25K nw2 claiming level

7  Robin's Love

8  Lethal Legacy

race 5   average clarity

11  Don't Stalk Me   plenty of speed signed up should make his mid pack running style quite dangerous.......good history with today's rider Edwin Roman up......monster day on opening day for O'Neill

4  Joejoe's Kingdom   last looked like nothing more than a spin around the track in a protected race to attempt to drop without getting claimed at today's much lower level........if that is the case this gelding should be tough

8  Bob's All In   seems to be on a rebound and the two subtlety good 4F drills since his winning last hint the rebound is not done yet........should be a handsome price

2  Memorable Election

7  Rockaway

race 6    average clarity

5  Buckstopper Kit   bad trip in last hides an effort that fits and he was very washy prior to the race to boot .........should sit in a good mid pack position and able to save ground with two faster and two slower in the early stages of the race lined up inside of him

7  Magic Musketier   race 3 back on the 30th of March is his only turf effort at today's 9F distance and the effort is quite a bit better than appears in print (broke slightly tardy and then raced wide)......and today he gets to carry 7 lbs less than he carried that day......and whereas the trainer was rather chilly at that time he is not now

2  Majestic Eagle   colt is as likely as anyone in this affair at getting a good trip as he should be able to save ground somewhere near the front end of things......that and he has done little wrong since the blinkers were put on (5 1 4 0)

4  Andesh

1  East Rand

race 7    above average clarity

3  Moonshine Memories   two for three on the Dmr dirt and he was our top selection in the BCJuvFilly but she had no shot at all dueling in a nasty set of fractions and doing so on a dull inside

2  Show It N Moe It   Cal-bred fits if she brings her A game and she has 2 of the 3 times that today's rider Bejarano has been up.........and the a.m. preparation is as strong as it gets for a trainer like Sherlock

6  Steph Being Steph   not sure if this filly can handle the Dmr surface as well as she has the SA surface as she tossed a clunker in her MSW at Dmr and did so when she was live on the board......works say she is ready fresh off of 5 month layoff.......fits if she handles to Dmr surface the 2nd go around

5  Secret Spice

race 8    average clarity

5  Marjorie E    1st time on Lasix today and with improved drills since her last which was the 8 June version of this race run at SA.........sharp speed in the race and got a little tired late......significant rider upgrade for today.......not much early speed in here.......hard not to like

2  Venue   ran evenly following slow starts in both lifetime races that were on the grass.......blinkers on today to get her to focus and hopefully sit closer in the early stages on the race.......seems likely to pop her best to date this afternoon

12  Oh Pretty Woman   good MSW debut at SA in a race rune down the Santa Anita hill grass course........and trainer Marty Jones is much more prolific with 2nd time starters than 1st time starters........very strong pedigree to handle the two turf turns

11  Radish

1  Zillinda
