Not an easy card to decipher. Tomorrow's card appears much better and very good quality wise for a Sunday.

7 Chasing Yesterday  extremely well bred and Baffert appears to have yet another 1st time starter ready to roll at 1sk asking.....mom has tossed 4 winners from 4 starters including a Stakes winner....and 3 of the 4 preciously were able to graduate at two
5 Scarlet  another 1st time starter that screams ready for her debut with her 3 best drills coming when she worked out of the gate........and mom has been very prolific tossing 7 winners from 7 starters (3 Stakes winners) and all amazingly won at two.....very impressive
3 Whiff of Intrigue  trainer is hot and the a.m. work is decent for this Hollendorfer/Conner 1ster.......but not as impressive as the top two........thus........ easy to make as the 3rd pick-a-rue

10 Great Run  tough post for this Mandella 1st time starter but he does get Prat to ride who is outstanding with young developing turf runners........works and pedigree for the grass are both very good for this three year old filly
8 Storming Lady  par like sprint down the Santa Anita and she showed plenty of early speed in the race.......that speed should help Talamo clear most or all of the field by the 1st turn.......hard not to like
1 Screenshot  1st timer finished up her work regiment for her debut with her sharpest of the many drills that she put in.......might be feeling great when it counts the most as in right before her debut into the wonderful world that is thoroughbred racing

3 Awesome Anywhere  consistent sort seems to be in a good spot as the race lacks speed and he appears to have the most.........that and he is 3 for 3 racing off of 25 days rest or less.......last race was on the 4th of July......speed and the rail were much better yesterday
6 Very Very Stella  Jacobson has done nothing at the Dmr meeting so far but that might change here with this six year old invading from Belmont seemingly in good form and dropping multiple levels
4 Kochess  very dangerous trainer in Jonathan Wong ships back into S Cal and the last two times that Kochess won he was a winner by 2 1/2 lengths and at SA.....and both times today's jock Gutierrez was up

7 Kershaw  gelding is on the improve with each and every start and that is one dangerous proposition for the opposition as hot as Miller is to start the Del mar meeting.......gelding should be in the mix from the get go and with only 113 lbs on his back with a very capable bug boy up
4 Bank Walker  best time to drop is often off of long layoffs as their is plenty of doubt in the minds of the claiming vultures........last race was on 25 Aug and is a solid fit here as is his previous race and both were at Dmr.......hard not to like
5 Violent  nice spin around track in latest in a protected MSW race......works since the race are vastly improved.......up for sale today so this is very likely a full blown GO

11 Avalanche tepid top choice earned figs that fit solidly in 2 of his last 3 turf races which were also at today's 8F distance........and whereas Sadler was a bit chilly at that time he isn't now......works are good.......post is no picknick
5 Popyhowuspelcopcake  sprint-sprint-route scenario and for a four year old who appears to be best on the Del Mar turf......that and I like that Asa Espinoza was able to break this fellow cleanly for the first good start of his career.......sure like his chances of a good trip if Asa can do it again
4 Force  five year old gelding has been facing better and he is up for a tag today so as to face easier alw foes........or maybe........claim me please........or maybe the connections just want to win........tough call but he should a force if it is latter

5 Rinse and Repeat  plenty of speed in this affiar can set things up nicely for this O'Neill cot running 2nd time following an extended hiatus for the game........lifetime best was at Del Mar at 6 1/2F and it was the only time he had the blinkers on at Dmr........their on today and the race is once again at 6 1/2 furlongs
2 Minister of Soul  same rider and trainer as yesterday with a horse invading from LS and did that LS invader pop a strong winning race.......this one sure has run well in Texas and with very big gaps behind him in his 2nd and 1st place finishes
6 California Clone  gelding sure got good as a two year old in 2016........but he has only raced once since then in a dull 2017 effort.......but he sure seems cured with what ever ailed him as his work regiment is impressive......hardly that of a horse who is hurting

2 Grecian Fire  when Hollendorfer goes to Mike Smith he most often means business.......gelding seems quite sharp right now and for a trainer who is on fire at the moment now......one mile appears to be the good fit for this four on the turf or the AW or the conventional dirt
7 Fly to Mars  solid history when Prat rides both result wise ( 2 for 3) and fig wise......likely will be in a decent stalk position with the front runners setting a solid set of fractions
9 Well Developed  very consistent sort is working extremely well and draws the meets leading rider.......and with all the speed in here you have to like that he has also won from 4L off of the leaders....top jock with options......such a deal

3 Broome  logical drop and for a trainer in Peter Miller who is in obvious go mode to start the Del Mar summer meeting.................filly is 6 for 7 hitting the board with her lone off the board race in her maiden debut which appeared to be a tune-up........lifetime best was at Del Mar
6 Topaz Time  very big race two back.......no play on the board in her latest so most likely it was a turf tightener.....if so lookout today
7 Swallows Inn Gal  trainer is solid with the sprint-route-sprint manneuver which is the case today for this filly......race two back might do the trick and this filly carries 5 lbs less today than she carried in the race 2 back........such a deal

3Â Roy HÂ gelding has turned into one of the best dirt sprinters on the planet......and gets in at the lowest weight he has seen in some time.......ran 2nd in this race last year but only because of a bad trip.......in his only other race at Dmr he won the B C Sprint in a fabulous time for the given day.....good history when Desormeaux rides.....plenty of positives to say the least
4 American Anthem  dealt with nasty fractions and still won two straight 7F races in solid final time.....and training as if he is ready for more of the same today......Baffert/Smith in a Grade 1.......always dangerous and then some
9 Edwards Going Left  seemingly needed a break and gets one.......2 for 3 at Dmr......and 3 for 4 at today's six panels.......believe there will be a very fast pace set up front which will flatter his late running style.......we shall see

8 Forloveofcountry  off the turf 3rd place finish at CD in his debut and his drills since look good..........decent grass pedigree and one dangerous Midwest trainer in James Divito "1st time on the turf" and "2nd career start"
7 Ocean Fury  two year old turf route experience and a significant rider upgrade especially for a grass race........debut was better than it appears as he was shuffled back and also blocked........hard not to
2 Biz Nasty  works sure suggest this Michael McCarthy 1st timer is ready to roll........tough to make a call though as far as his breeding to handle the sod is concerned
