So so card this afternoon but some big priced selections in spots.

1  Funny Bone   trainer Robert Bean seldom has a well-bred horse but he does here.....three year old filly had a nice layoff win and since the race is working the best of her career......only route turf race is good (and at Dmr) and she has a much better turf rider up today than she had before

4  Cleverly Beverly   very consistent "at the distance" as this eight year old mare has been in the exacta 15 of 25 at the distance with more wins than 2nd place finishes.......and Eric Kruljac has her well prepared in the a.m.

3  Streak of Luck   fairly consistent grass runner has never had anything but a low percentage grass rider on her back ..........today Hall of Fame jock Stevens rides.....and she is 1 for 1 at Del Mar on the sod

2  Clearly Gone

4  Midnight Lilly   finally gets to race on the dirt where I believe she is better following 5 straight grass races .......very solid (and hidden) back numbers for this Palma four-year old filly especially in a race run 51 weeks ago at Dmr........hope Hector has her pointed to today's race

6  Majestic Design   10L win racing turf to dirt to graduate in style in her latest which was at Lrc.......if she can run as well dirt to dirt and on a new dirt surface she will be a major factor in the outcome of this race

3  Khaleesi   Machowski seems to be trying to build the endurance up in this mare......if the series of decent 5F works put into her do the trick this lead type only might be able to wire the field

7  Persistence

5  Tequila Blanco   four-year old has shown life in all 4 career races.........like the rider change back to Pereira and the fact the D'Amato steps his gelding up one notch hinting his maiden is doing well.......should be motoring late

1  Cosa Nostra   somewhat better works and Bejarano gets the 1 post instead of the 11 post to work with.......trainer is cold but seems to have a handle on this three-year old as he is training well

6  Turnaround   makeover city for this laid up gelding who last ran at FG in Feb........1st time gelding......1st time in a maiden claiming race........1st time at a route........works look good both at Kee and Dmr........should be in the hunt from the get go.......seems dangerous

4  Vinaka   good history on fast rated dirt (3 0 2 1)......should once again sit in a nice stalk or mid pack position......and with the successful bug boy and his 7 lbs weight break up.....such a deal

8  One Upper   good grass pedigree but not so hot on it to date.......wisely gives the dirt a try where she has always trained well on it.......and her last work at Dmr hints she is sharp for her first on the main track.......likely will be in the mix from the get go

3  Bahama Mama   Baltas is only 1 for his last 44 with maiden claiming 1st time starters but this three-year old filly is working too well to ignore

6  Grandma Neta

5  Lewis Vale   low % trainer but what a nice job he has done with this seven your old who he claimed for only 6,250.......gelding only needs to hold form to be the one to overcome in this spot if she handles the Dmr turf in her 1st race on it

4  Mithqaal   runs all day long type and it showed when he got to run as far as 9F where he came home a winner......that and his conditioner is a perfect 2 for 2 at the Del Mar meeting

7  Tough It Out   tossed a clunker in his latest but his a.m. work since the disappointing race hints at a rebound.......and he is 1 for 1 on the Dmr turf

12  Kopitar   1st time racing for Bob Hess who wisely keeps him in a dirt race as he handled his 1st on it well........trainer has been cold to start the meet but might get his 2nd win with his new shooter here

10  Derby Factor   plenty of cheap speed in this MC20K might play into the hands of this deep closer who improved some with the blinkers on in last........it seems a solid positive that the high in demand 7 lbs bug boy sticks with the 1 for 68 for 2018 trainer Ruben Gomez.......should be a handsome price

1  Spenditlikechilly   turf endurance building route in a protected race to muscle up and go go go today in this bottom level maiden claiming......like our 2nd selection he should be motoring late

8  Royal Seeker

4  Mrazek   returns from an extended hiatus from the game but he is training extremely well and owns a stout pedigree for the sod......and he has shown he can run fresh winning his MSW debut at 2......and running 2nd in 108:4 off a long layoff at 3.......should go off at a big number

2  Eric the Trojan   (3 2 1 0) when Prat has been in the saddle........(5 2 2 1) on the Dmr turf........(6 2 2 1) at the distance........runs well with ample time between races and gets it......should be flying late

9  Eddie Haskeel   at his best by far at today's abbreviated 5f turf distance.....might be rated too low if Franco can avoid getting him caught too wide from a tough post to deal with

6  Daddy's Mistress   on the improve and now takes a drop in claiming.......last fits and if he manages another forward move he will be awfully tough in this spot

1  No Thanks Erik   bet hard in his debut and disappointed his backers......very sharp bullet gate 3F drill at Del Mar since......deserves another shot

11 AE   Portal Creek   solid forward move in last and now drops again.......last with a clever ride from the far outside has a decent shot at taking down this race.......and he might be up for another move in the desired direction
