2  Just Kidding   claim back by Knapp had two very strong races the two times that the trainer had the horse before losing him.......gelding has only been on the turf twice and one of the races is decent.......Knapp has woken up the last couple of months.......should be near the front in a race lacking speed

6  Popyhowuspelcupcak   drop makes sense and like our top choice he can sit close in a race that seemingly will reward those that do........and with a good speed rider up in Pedroza

1  Broken Up   dead on the board in last suggests the race was a turf sprint tightener to be ready for today's drop in claiming......the fact that he wheels back in only 13 days supports the idea he is well-meant today

4  We Will Rejoice   6 for 9 at the distance and she is capable of winning on or just off of the lead in a race that seemingly favors those that do......bug boy Espinoza wisely sticks around

5  Ciao Luna   like our top choice she also is capable of stalking the lead and she appreciates abbreviated sprint distances (5 2 2 1)........her trainer Steve Knapp is starting to heat things up a little

6  Atrevida  scratched out of a race yesterday for this spot.......like the switch in jocks for an off pace running type........Bejarano likely will be motoring fast in the late stages

8  Arrowsphere   just snatched up at the claiming box by O'Neill who takes the blinkers off his new shooter......two solid works since the claim suggest that the equipment change has improved this filly.......that and she gets a rider upgrade......and she has handled the hill decently in the past

6  Copper Fever   lifetime best was her lone effort on the majestic SA hill grass course.......back to Prat (absent on her for her last 4) who rode the hill race.......bit of an alarming drop or would have considered as the top pick-a-rue

2  Don't Pass   solid awakening and final time on the dirt at Lrc to graduate in style.......so so pedigree for the turf but she should fit fine at today's level if she does handle it for Marty Jones and company

2  Cruel Intention   three very solid gate works for a two-year old Cal-bred to finish up his a.m. preparation for Baffert and company.......mom has tossed one winner from one starter and that winner was not only a multiple Stakes winner but is full sister to this youngster

3  Peedie   nice move forward in 2nd lifetime start.......so 2nd out following a two month break bodes well for a forward move today.........but more importantly it appears that the blinkers going on for today is a positive move as his recent a.m. work has never been better

4  Spendaholic   poor start in his MSW debut and still managed 2nd.......that and he likely wasn't all that cranked up and surprised his connections as went off at 18 to 1 in a 6 horse field

6  Asaro    SCRATCHED OUT OF RACE

2  Majorie E    SCRATCHED OUT OF RACE  nice stalking style and an outstanding grass rider in Prat up and with an excellent post to work with.......filly should save ground at least thru turn one........hard not to like with a high degree of probability this three-year gets a good trip

8  Mo See Cal   very big number (lifetime best) earned in her latest which is very strong for today's level.....only placed 2nd because Prat lands our top choice........not out of the win by any means especially with Van Dyke jumping aboard

9  X's Gold   seems to have improved since she learned how to take back off of the pace........she also earned a lifetime top (adjusted for being wide) in her last........but whereas the 2 horse should get a good trip she might not with the outer-most 9 post to cope with

2  Venice   ran like a filly who needed her layoff effort and her solid back to back drills since her comeback race support the notion.......dangerous rider/trainer combo in Pedroza/Mulhall over the last couple of years

9  Whata Flirt   1st time running in the O'Neill barn and that seems like a dangerous proposition as all 5 of his lifetime races fit fine at today's lowly MC20K racing level

1  Charming Alexis   decent MC debut and improved a.m. work since.......trainer is semi-hot right now so the odds of a forward move seem quite good for this three-year old filly making her 2nd career start

4  Cal Pack Queen    SCRATCHED OUT OF RACE

8  Smoovie   both lifetime races on fast rated dirt (and at SA) are better than appear......but.....likely not good enough to do some damage here........but.......O'Neill appears to have discovered the trump card for this filly as her morning work is vastly improved.......away 7 months but sure seems ready to strut her (hopefully new) stuff

3  Coco Kisses   very consistent sort racing at 5 1/2F or 6F.........rider upgrade to Stevens (won 3 yesterday) who should sit pretty on or near the lead and saving ground......hard not to like

4  Paprika   lifetime best was her only race to date on the SA dirt and the effort was his MSW debut.......and the strength of the effort is disguised by a slow start and a bit of a wide trip......blinkers on to help her focus and sit closer.....dangerous sort for sure

10  Love a Honeybadger   10 post you say in a 5F turf sprint - no problem as this filly can really fly early if of course she takes to the turf in her 1st race on it......so so pedigree for it but her lone drill on it was decent

5  Meet and Greet   awfully nice effort in latest off of the long layoff.......and her a.m. work since hint she benefited from the race........rider upgrade........all systems go

3  Beau Square    SCRATCHED OUT OF RACE  very consistent 5F turf sprinter should be flying in the late stages as usual......placed 3rd mostly because the 5F turf races at SA have favored speed (to say the least) so far

7  Lifesbeengoodsofar  bet hard in his MC debut but got away from the metal monster with a slow start and then showed little.........since the 6 September race he was gelded but was still able to put in 4 tightly spaced works the last of which was only 4 days ago.........Machowsky hasn't seen the winners so far at the meeting but his stock has been firing.......hope he gets his picture taken today

4  Two Fifty Coup   best career race by far and a strong fit here was the only time that today's rider Herberto Figueroa was up........both the drop in MC and the cut back in distance should greatly enhance his chances of graduating this afternoon

11  Magic Bro   fell back to last and then showed some life in his MC debut.....blinkers on today and with works that are improved......believe he sits closer today and moves forward......to what degree is the ? mark

7  Navajo Dreamer   SCRATCHED OUT OF RACE  Baltas is heating up and he gets Mike Smith to accept the mount on this filly who just kept improving with each and every "hill" race last spring.......following 3 so so races at Del Mar she appears to be well prepared in the a.m. for today's return to the hill.......she owns early speed in a race that lacks it.....right in Mike Smith's wheelhouse

2  Well Hello   1st on the lawn but her pedigree suggests she will handle the surface change......that and her 6 1/2 dirt race two back is for solid for today's nw alw level if of course she can run similar on the sod.......Van Dyke was up for the aforementioned race and is up today as well

3  Great Return    SCRATCHED OUT OF RACE  strong back to back 5F turf races at Dmr to start her career.......and she appears to be screaming for more ground to cover and gets it today........Prat wisely sticks around for a 3rd straight race
