Golden Gate for Saturday 23 March 2019

It should be a one great card at Gulfstream Park with many of the horses racing that day showing up to race on the 1st Saturday in May at Churchill Downs.

Good 9 race card at Golden Gate for Saturday which I would rate a 7 on the 1 to 10 scale of things.

1  Silver One   strong winning MC debut 3 races back breaking from the one post like today........and the race turned out to be a key one........one post today and back in a claimer following two consecutive non claiming events.......sure seems dangerous

3  Lady At the Barre   crazy high placement in her latest following a nice MC debut win at the lowly MC8K level......fits fine today on the drop........low % rider and trainer but decent as a combo

6  Social Etiquette   SCRATCHED OUT OF THE RACE  lone win was the only time that leading rider Cedillo was up and it was at today's 6F distance........he is up today after being absent for four races

4  Holy Diver

4  Mommy Rose   very consistent sort seems to be in very good form and races 1st time following the Glatt claim.......it's a good sign that Hernandez rides thru the claim.......back in only 15 days rest but has handled short rest quite well in the past

3  Carrie's Success   last race was her 1st ever on the AW and it was a win......claimed by the always dangerous Jonathan Wong and gets to race another 1/2 furlong longer today which appears to be a plus......Cedillo/Wong are 41% win as a combo with their last 46.......yikes

1  She Began Again   night and day better when this gal gets to race at 6F as in (11 4 3 1) and (11 1 1 1) at other main track distances........somewhat hidden as the race two back was a layoff gimme and then she caught slop in her next and didn't care for it

2  Champ for Justice   filly drops and gets not only a rider upgrade but to one with a 7 lbs weight break.......and she gets a much-needed drop of a couple of levels......and apprentice jock Velez (2 for 3 in routes to start his career) sure appears loose on the lead here

1  Secret Wind   always like when a need to lead type is able to win from off of the pace for the 1st time like this filly did......shooting for 3 straight wins today albeit in a route race where she has only owns two 3rd's in 2 route races

5  Beautiful Creature   1st at a route today for this filly with a so so pedigree for one.......but Hollendorfer and Bejarano are at the controls which still makes this three-year old dangerous

3  She's a Spy

4  English Royality   well proven at GG and especially so at today's six panels where this three-year old filly has 3 wins & a 3rd in 4 starts.......alw race in last was a little too tough.....back in a claimer where she has won 5 straight times

7  Montana Sunset    SCRATCHED OUT OF THE RACE  prolonged work regiment (with some solid drills to finish up her a.m. preparation) for this Wright filly coming off of long layoff.....that and the fact she is up for a tag for the 1st time suggests this in not a tune-up

3  Reachreachreach   best career race was run 2 races back off of 6 weeks rest and fits fine if she can run similar in her 1st race at GG..........6 weeks since her latest.......trainer is firing on all cylinders at GG.......hmmm

6  Oyster Shooter

2  Lieutenant Dan   ran OK in her latest but might have run better on a fast track instead of a good one.......didn't care for two turns two back........race 3 back is very strong and if he duplicates that race in his 1st on the GG AW he will be stout here

3  Mr Paytience   dangerous speed with the blinkers going back on after being off for one race.......Bejarano up for O'Neill which is not too shabby of a team for the likes of Golden Gate Fields.......should be in the mix from the get go

4  Two Bills   whereas our top two choices have never raced at GG this gelding has shown he likes the GG surface as in 2 wins and a 2nd in 3 starts.......that makes him quite dangerous

8  Morning Cynn   last sure appears to be a needed tune-up to tighten up like only a race can do sometimes and be at full throttle for his 2nd lifetime start.......and we get one significant jock upgrade

7  Joyous   dangerous filly here in that she is on the right end of the learning curve and her trainer is outstanding 3rd out following a layoff for a given horse........and that is the case today for this Quinn Howey 3 yr old

5  Love Solution   very consistent filly these days should give a good account of herself once again today especially considering the rider/trainer team.......but......she sure likes to hang in the stretch

6  Hollywood Square   hates conventional dirt but that is not the case on the turf or the AW.........seems best with the blinkers on which they are today and his last race with them off isn't too shabby........hard not to like

8  How's My Hero   giant wake-up when last seen in a race at Emd with the blinkers on for the 1st time......been away since the June 30th race but if she is ready she fits a ton here if she is up to that effort today at GG where she has run well in one of her two starts

5  Easy Game   seems to show up every race since the blinkers were put on and she runs 1st out following the Tamayo claim who is dynamite 1st after a claim.........but.........she does like to hang

7  On Trust    SCRATCHED OUT OF THE RACE

7  Lymebyrd   seemingly in top form right now with two consecutive solid one mile wins at GG on the AW........4 reassuring works since his last which was run 6 weeks ago.........assigned 127 lbs today but he just carried 125 lbs in the 9 Feb version of this race

4  Jungle Warfare   1st on a synthetic racetrack today but she has handled the grass, fast and off rated conventional dirt.....so her chances of not handling a fourth different surface seem slim........trainer & rider teamed up for an upset allowance win yesterday

6  River of Champagne    SCRATCHED OUT OF THE RACE   lead type only seems like he has the best shot at getting loose in this race but at what cost......needs a reasonable set of fractions or he will spit the bit as he does in about 3/4's of his races

8  Big Shanty

8  Many Moods   (5 1 1 3) with the blinkers off racing at GG........away over 13 months but this gelding sure is training as if he is meant and ready.......and if he is he sure should be tough at today's lowly level

7  Ironic Ron    SCRATCHED OUT OF THE RACE   lookout here as Martin is dynamite the 1st time he takes over the training duties of a given horse and drops his new acquisition........that and a low percentage trainer had this four-year old........very dangerous

4  Reuben James   price shot made a rebound of sorts in his latest and since the 2 March race worked awfully well.......believe he moves forward today despite the negative rider switch
