Best of luck as always!
race 1Â Â average clarity
6 Magic Musketier  four-year old colt has the best late pace in the field and with many in this group that have little "punch" when it counts the most as in the late stretch.......let's call it the last the "last man standing" situation
3 Tequila Joe  gelding was making a move on the 2nd turn when he had to check about 3L thus messing with his momentum......that and he sure draws a better post for Delgadillo to work with at the one mile turf distance (10 post to 4 post)
1 Start a Running  route speed turf runner seemingly has only one other speed horse to cope with in the 5 horse......two reasons he gets the nod over the 5 as it appears that he is training better and whereas the 5 is a need to lead type this gelding has won stalking the lead
2Â Dallas Skyline
race 2Â Â below average clarity
3 Majestic Diva  good history running off of short rest and her latest racing off of a two month break isn't two shabby........as in better than par for today's higher level.......last race 3 weeks ago.......good history with Tiago Pereira on her back......should be a major factor in the outcome of this race
4 Ciao Luna  in good form right now and gets to run turf to dirt so she might be feeling good......and the fact she put in a good 3F work since her latest which was run only 2 weeks ago supports the notion
5 Empress of Lov  filly has a shot at snatching the front end and never looking back......Ron Ellis is often at his most dangerous 2nd out after a claim and that is the case today for this filly dropping back to level that Ron claimed her for
race 3Â Â average clarity
1 Kentan Road  only 5F turf race at SA for this mare is her lifetime best Santucci fig and it is disguised in it's strength........broke tardy and then rushed up to still open up a loose lead.......did quite well to beat 7 of 8 foes.....if this mare breaks well today she should be very tough to wheel in
2 Rocky Policy  even though this mare is yet to win at 5 or 5 1/2 furlongs on the turf (8 0 3 2) she appears to be at her best at the distance(s).......she is capable on or off of the lead.......and she appreciates very firm turf which she should get today
4 Hergame  tough call if this laid up French invader is ready in her U S of A debut but if she is should fit just fine here even with a low percentage turf jock up
5Â Time for Ebby
race 4Â Â below average clarity
2 El Huerfano  9 for 18 in the exacta when racing on the Santa Anita main track.....and his latest run on the new deep SA dirt was stellar running 2nd despite dueling in way too fast of fractions for how slow the track was playing......that and his last two wins came the two times he ran further than one mile on a fast rated dirt surface
6 Surfing Star  both lifetime route races run on a fast track fit solidly here.......only placed as the second choice because his pedigree to get another furlong isn't the best........but on the other hand Bruce Headley sure has put in copious furlongs of work into this colt to help him handle the 9 furlongs of deep dirt
4 Two Thirty Two SCRATCHED OUT OF THE RACE fell off of form quite badly last summer/fall and wisely was given plenty of time off to set things straight........Baltas sure appears to have his four-year old colt wound up and ready to roll fresh off of the bench with a prolonged tightly spaced series of works........last two wins for this colt came the last two times this he ran in allowance races and the one run last June at today's same alw level is dynamite
race 5Â Â average clarity
2 Hardboot  solid lifetime best effort when last seen on opening day at SA in a race run off of a 6 month layoff where this colt was only beaten by 4L in a G2.....4 months off for today's race vs. easier.......rider upgrade.......same turf distance......works are solid........all systems go
3 Tule Fog  sprint turf prep in her latest in a race run off of an extended hiatus from the game........last four times this horse got to race at SA in a one mile grass race led to 2 wins - a 2nd -and a 3/4L beaten fifth........five year old should be in the mix from the get go
4 Brandothebartender  versatile grass runner seems to handle any turf distance including one mile of sod at SA.........that and he gets to run 2nd out following a layoff ......and the 6 1/2F layoff race was very strong and should set him up for his one mile endeavor this afternoon
7Â The Hunted
race 6Â Â above average clarity
5 True Validity  all three lifetime races run on the SA main track when rated fast fine here......not too shabby at SA on an off track either.......won today's race condition in her latest.......three reassuring works since the better than par race......definitely the one to overcome
4 Time for Kisses  poor trip racing over her head combine to help hide an effort that is better than par when you adjust for 6 or 7 lengths of trip trouble......back in 21 days 2nd out after a long layoff seems like a good set up as she broke her maiden in her 2nd lifetime start off of 24 days rest
2 Rather Nosy  moved forward in her last but it still wasn't good enough to beat our top choice........she did earn a Santucci fig that was only 2L less than our top choice and her a.m. work seems a touch better.......not impossible to turn the table
race 7Â Â average clarity
6 Kylemore  2 of 4 races on the dirt since Baltas took over the training duties of this four-year old gelding are solid.....and he seems every bit as good on the grass as on the dirt.......only race he has run at today's 9F turf distance is much better than it appears in print........away 8 weeks but considering how well he is working the break appears to have done him some good....should be in the mix from the get go
9 Twentytwentyvision  likes to stalk the lead and he sure appears to have a chance at doing that for the 3rd time in a row........and you have to like that he won his last two very easily albeit at two claiming levels lower
1 Major Cabbie  stepped on the grass for the first time in his latest and it really woke him up........might have upset the apple cart in the race at 52 to 1 if it wasn't for getting shuffled back in the run down the majestic SA hill grass course.......not sure if this fellow wants to run as far as 9F but it is encouraging that he handled 8F of dirt in Sept. of his 2-year-old year with a 6 1/4L win to break his MSW
3 Lazzam SCRATCHED OUT OF THE RACEÂ
4Â Red King
race 8Â Â average clarity
8 Paradise Woods  best by far at SA (8 3 2 2 1 on fast rated dirt) including on the new much deeper SA main course as she ran a nice 3rd in her latest on March 30th in a Grade 1........and with a much inferior rider from the one who rides today........impressive drills since last........Mike Smith will have her in the mix from the get go
6 Lemoona  four-year old Baltas filly just ran her best turf race of her career and it was at today's 9F distance.......and she appears to better on the dirt than the turf.......so......if she holds form logic suggests she might be up for her lifetime best performance this afternoon......lookout if that is the case
3 La Force  mare has shown she can fire fresh and she has also shown that she is a smooth running sort which has made her very consistent.......mostly made as our 3rd choice because her two efforts at 9F are not so hot
1Â Starr of Quality
5 Withholding Info SCRATCHED OUT OF THE RACEÂ
race 9Â Â average clarity
2 Translucent  gelding drops a couple of MC levels and as the best early speed in the field........only race run on a fast SA main track fits solidly here both in pace and final time......and the cut back of 1/16 for today should help this three-year old to hold it together in late stretch.........trainer and rider both could use a win
10 Golden Image  nice forward move in his 3rd lifetime start in a race run off of 11 weeks rest and at today's 5 1/2 furlongs.......9 weeks rest today and good works showing......seems like a player in this spot
9 King Parker  moved forward in his 2nd lifetime start and on the drop down.........so 2nd out after a layoff and on a drop in claiming appears to have him well-meant this afternoon
4Â Winding
6Â Dieci
