Santa Anita for Sunday 26 May 2019

Belmont Stakes Day is only 13 days away and our special pub with full race card selections and comments is now available for purchase at a discount of $6 until next Tuesday. Discounted price is $26.95.

Rain is in the forecast so I had to redo my work which is a pain in the you know what so that cuts into the time available for writing up the comments. Last Sunday we had the same situation and it led to 7 of 9 top choice winners but today I would be thrilled to get 3. Tough card for sure. Mondays card is very nice both handicapping wise and in quality.

Best of luck as always!

race 1    average clarity (if the race stays on the turf)

4  Diamond Blitz   back to the grass where this gelding has much better early speed than he does on the dirt......that and he has a much more accomplished grass rider up today than he had in his 3 lifetime grass races.......Bejarano should get a loose lead and be difficult to wheel in

2  Mr. Magico

5  Little No Way

8  Armed Wall

3  Big Sky Logan

race 1    below average clarity (if the race is moved to the main track)

1-2-4-5-8

race 2    below average clarity

5  Beyond Pleasure   Baltas is red-hot right now and might keep the ball rolling here as he drops this filly to her lowest MC level of her career.......blinkers go on.......races turf to dirt which is a solid stat for Richard.......back to Prat after being absent for a race.......sure seems to be well-meant

3  Cat's Desire

4  K P Satellite

race 3    below average clarity (if the race stays on the turf)

(14 AE  Boru  has a shot if he draws into the field)

9  Tequila Blanco  nasty duel in his latest (the other two horses who dueled with him ran last & 2nd to last) and he rightfully tired doing well to salvage 4th......that and he is capable of running off of the pace.......2nd out after a layoff and with a few decent tightly spaced drills showing.......believe this Miyadi five-year old is moving forward today

3  Good Bye Putin

10  Pointed

1  Bud Knight

7  Conquest Smartee

race 3   below average clarity (if the race is moved to the main track)

3-4-6-7-9-10-14

race 4    average clarity

7  Golden Star Lady   two-year old filly was just purchased in March so the connections had a good look at what they were getting......... and considering the sales price was $300K they likely have a MSW 1st timer ready to compete at a high level in her debut.......mom has tossed 5 winners from 5 starters and might make it 6 for 6 today

5  Comical

6  Go Big Blue Nation

3  Senora Power

race 5    below average clarity (if the race stays on the turf)

6  Flower Point  impressive MSW turf sprint debut as this filly was off a step slow and then ran five wide on the turn and still she managed a good stretch run to win.......that folks is rare.......pedigree to get a route is a tough call but Mr. Sadler is making all the right moves these days and his judgement must be respected

4  Encanta

3  Tapwater

2  Ladymidtown

5  Out of Balance

race 5    average clarity (if the race is moved to the main track)

3-4-6-2-1-5

race 6    below average clarity

3  Sneaking Out  filly has done little wrong in 5 lifetime races and both races with Van Dyke up were awfully strong  earning par like figs for today's higher level.........extremely sharp preparatory works put in at LA......1st at a route but owns a pedigree that should handle one

1  My Majestic Rose

2  Bizwacks

race 7    average clarity (if the race stays on the turf)

8  Belvoir Bay   very special turf sprinter handles multiple turf courses and sprint distances.....but she seems at her very best on the SA turf course where she is (9 6 0 2)........the only negative is how chilly Peter Miller has been since all the changes occurred at SA

5  Ginger Nut

4  Painting Corners

2  S Y Sky

3  Rocky Policy

race 7   below average clarity (if the race is moved to the main track)

8-2-9-10-7

race 8    average clarity

2  Vander Kelen   if the track has some moisture in it which it should this gelding will likely get what he needs as in a loose lead just like he did on an off track on 12 January where he went gate to wire to win........sharp 2nd best of 83 4F work on 18 May hints he is very sharp

1  Italiano

5  Owning

race 9    average clarity (if the race stays on the turf)

1  Loaded Joe   impressive dirt MSW debut sitting close to a brutal pace and still managing to hang on for 3rd........decent turf and route breeding for a Cal-bred and a good post in which to start.......continues to train like a happy healthy individual.........should be in the hunt from the get go

8  Delta Forum

2  General Mo

9  Malibu Moonlight

3  Etterbay Ucklay

6  Elusive Flame

race 9   below average clarity (if the race is moved to the main track)

9-1-8-2-3-5
