Average race card today. Let's call it a 6 on the one to ten scale of things.

5 Takethediamondlane  this MSW 1st starter was a trainer scratch on 18 July in a $150K Stakes races and here is the comment that day for her as our 2nd choice "expensive Brian Koriner 1st time starter debuts in a Stakes race with a work tab that suggests it might not be a bad move......we shall see if it is about 4:30 p.m. pacific time"......so off of that comment you know I like her here
6 Remember to Smile  plenty of foundation put into this Jeff Bonde debut runner who draws Mike Smith for his lone mount on the card.........works improved once this girl switched tracks to Del Mar for her training..........rather sure this filly is meant & ready for her MSW debut
1 Miss Megan  pedigree screams turf and she lived up to her pedigree with a solid 2nd in her MSW on June 2nd at GG in a 5F turf race.......tossed a dud in her next in a turf route.........Andy Mathis has given his filly two months off to right the ship.......and she just worked an impressive best of 100 4F bullet last week at Dmr.......so.......connections feel the need to give the dirt a try and coax Van Dyke to ride

3 A Dime for Me  high percentage trainer in Wallace albeit with limited starters.......he is often at his best 2nd out following a claim which is the case today........and his filly appears to own the best early speed in the field........might get loose and slow things down and if she does she might make her 1st attempt at a route a winning one
4 Playa Chica  four year old filly from the Baltas barn improved in her latest on 9 June and ran an effort that might take down this race if she can run similar off of the 2 month break.......the fact Prat stays put hints that she will......we shall see about 2:30 pacific this afternoon
7 Tig Tog  the lone time this filly was put in a claimer she won and earned a fig that very solidly here.......the race was at Del Mar and at today's one mile distance.......and today's rider Van Dyke was up.......hmmm

1 Fast Cotton  three straight valid excuses......2 route races where he didn't appear to appreciate the two turns.......and then in his latest he had a lousy start and in a race of only 5 furlongs (not good)........likes the Del Mar surface and it sure showed in his latest work which was a best of 73 bullet 4F drill
3 Monydontspenitself  last win (2 back) came with ample time between starts and he gets it and then some once again today.......1st after the Hollendorfer claim and Jerry appears to have his new addition to his stable cranked and ready to roll
5 Best Two Minutes  does well on the Dmr main track and also has a strong history competing at 6 furlongs........mostly placed as low as he is because of showing only one dull work since his 7 July race at Lrc

3 Cunning Munnings winning with MSW 1st starters isn't exactly in Mark Glatt's wheelhouse but this three year old gelding is working too well to ignore and owns a good grass pedigree........5 furlongs might be a good fit as there are hints of some early speed in his a.m. work........rider/trainer are 3 for their last 5 in the win column and with another hitting the board
2 Tribals Last Reign  another 1st time starter working as if she is meant & ready to strut her stuff in this abbreviated turf sprint......very good grass breeding......good speed jock up.....trainer could use a win and Craig Dollase might get one here
7 Spendaholic  away since early December following 3 so so lifetime endeavors all of which were dirt sprints......returns with three firsts as in 1st time racing as a gelding - 1st time racing with blinkers - 1st time on the turf which he is decently bred for..........we will see if the "Full Monty" gets something more out of him

2 Vintage Hollywood  appreciates ample time between starts and gets it today........(2 1 1 0) on the Dmr main track......trainer is quietly having a good Del Mar meeting........6 1/2 furlongs appears to be a plus and it won't be for many in this field
4 Aced  lone lifetime win came the lone time this four year old was in a claiming race......25K claiming today and a sharp preparatory drill......connections realize that they might lose the horse today and want him fully ready to earn as much $ as possible before saying adios to there four year old
6 Emtech  seems to have some physical problems so Callaghan drops him into a claiming race......and that is one dangerous move for the trainer as he is 41% win with his last 39 claimers

2 Zestful  lead type only should be able to get what he needs to succeed as a loose lead.......and he shows two very reassuring solid 4F drills hinting he is doing well physically speaking.......solid rider/trainer team of late
3 Zuzanna  mare faces the guys today but her latest race is very solid here and she gets a 5 lbs advantage over the rest of the field.......Hess is on fire and gets his pal Desormeaux to stick with his mare for a fourth straight race
6 Play Hard to Get  big awakening in his last and the strength on the race is disguised somewhat by a poor beginning.........stout turf jock Van Dyke will be out to make amends

4 Solar Nova  filly not only stepped up in claiming for her 2nd lifetime start but did so vs. the boys and ran a nice 2nd.........she also ran a 100:3 at Sac which looks rather good in this spot
6 Destiny's Journey  Knapp is dismal with 1st time starters (maybe be design) but he might go against the grain here with this MC 1ster who put in a very fast drill the 1st time she worked on the Dmr surface hinting she really liked it........that and she was just purchased in June so the connections got a good look at what they were getting
3 Senora Power  small drop in MC.......significant rider upgrade.........and a recent drill that is improved......a trifecta of reasons to consider this Victor Gracia trainee
