Best of luck as always!
race 1Â Â average clarity
9 Chosen Vessel  giant vault forward in his latest running a number that is about 5L better than par when you adjust for trip.......tough post but he showed plenty of speed in his last so I can envision him not getting caught too wide on turn 1......might be knocked out some from his vastly better race but if he isn't he should be a ton here
6 He's Like Violence  quite the rider upgrade for a turf race going from a low percentage grass rider to one that dominates the California jockey colony when it comes to turf racing......gelding .just popped his lifetime best and did so off of a year layoff.....number earned was better than par for today's small step up in conditioned claiming.....hard not like
3 Nevermissesabeat  gelding likely needed his last which was run off a long hiatus from the game.....if that is the case he should be a player this afternoon.......Bejarano sticks around with the potential of an improved outing for the Gaines four year old
1Â War Chest
8Â Trojan Spirit
race 2Â Â below average clarity
2 Sassy Kitty was improving with each and every race last summer/fall and her last race on 12 Oct where she ran 3rd turned out to be a key one with 1st and 2nd coming back to win their next start........1st time Miller as the trainer.......should be tough fresh off of the bench
1 Alicia's Pride  filly showed plenty of live in her MSW debut which was in a turf route......she broke very poorly and fell way back but she showed plenty of life once she got running........for her 2nd start she makes one huge trainer upgrade and and also a solid rider upgrade.......drops into MC and cuts back to a dirt sprint......last work preparing for today is decent and hints Hollendorfer is trying to quicken her early
6 Laker Jet  on the improve with each and every start especially 1st time running for Robert Bean in her latest which was at SR........would have rated her higher if the trainer didn't elect to use a 0 for 32 jock for the Dmr meeting......come on Assael.......send early and hang on
5Â Incredibly Lucky
race 3Â Â average clarity
3 Sunrise Royale last three races for this filly were at 5F on the grass and ironically the best of the three was her latest where she only managed a 5th place finish following a 3rd and a 2nd in her previous two 5F affairs............better a.m. work since.........seems poised for a repeat and if she is and gets a better trip she has a big shot here
10 Lucky Ms Jones  D'Amato is very good at turning a route runner into a sprinter which if her quicker works are worth a hoot he is attempting to do.......like the switch to G Franco as when the D'A goes to the rider for the 1st time his horses are often "live".........should be a big number
4 Miss Ricochet  SCRATCHED OUT OF THE RACE sure appreciates the 5 furlong turf distance and I believe she is poised for another strong run.........but she likely needs to avoid a suicidal speed duel one way or another.........as in either go all out to clear early or take back a little
7Â Violette Szabo
1Â Absolutely Perfect
race 4Â Â below average clarity
7 Lightning Fast  Bill Spawr starts very few MSW 1st time starters but when he does he is often very dangerous with them........his colt hasn't missed a beat hitting the track every 5, 6 or 7 days dating back to 22 June........his last work was out of the gate and awfully fast for someone like Bill Spawr who usually doesn't push them too hard in the a.m.
10 Rebel Fire  last three preparatory works (all at 5 furlongs) for this Peter Eurton two year old Cal-bred 1st time starter are solid hinting that this colt is ready to roll in his MSW debut........we shall find out about 5:30 pm pacific
13 AE Cali Dude SCRATCHED OUT OF THE RACE  Sadler 1st time starter was just purchased at sale 2 months ago and draws the meets leading rider (by a big margin) in Flavien Prat........works suggest he is well meant and ready (take note that Prat is also named on the 6 horse so if this two year old draws into the field you might ask "who did Prat take")
3Â Summer Fire
11 AEÂ Wilder Than Most
8Â Tribal Impact
race 5Â Â average clarity
2 Great Return  very consistent to start her career (4 2 1 1) which has been all turf racing.......and she just popped her lifetime best in her 1st ever route grass race handling significant early fractions and still winning day daylight.........good post to once again be in the mix from the get go and save ground at least thru turn 1...........such a deal
6 Excellent Sunset  (5 2 2 0) for this mare when competing at one mile on the grass and the "miss" was in a Grade 1.........bad trip in latest and still wound up 2nd in a Grade 3........Bejarano can do better - solid shot in this affair if he does
8 A Walk in the Park  filly seems at her best racing off of short rest..........21 days since her latest qualifies for that.......not an easy post but Arroyo has options as this filly is capable of winning on or off of the pace
4Â Don't Blame Judy
3Â Animosity
race 6Â Â average clarity
3 Phantom Boss  Periban not only has had his best year as a trainer but now he has a Cal-bred who has won a Graded race........and he won the race out of town at CD........back vs. Cal-breds........Bejarano accepts the mount for a 4th straight race......1st to date at Del Mar is a small ? mark
9 Big Returns SCRATCHED OUT OF THE RACE  colt was put up to first (because the winner was justly disqualified) in his latest making it 2 for 2 lifetime despite a tough trip.......extra furlong to work with today seems to be a plus for him........not out of the win picture by any means..........pun intended
7 Drippin Sauce  strong move forward in his latest and it seems noteworthy that is was his 1st on the Del Mar surface..........like our 2nd choice this Jonathan Wong colt should appreciate another 1/16 to cover today........Prat lands elsewhere........Mike Smith will do just fine
5Â Pas de Panique
11Â Square Deal
race 7Â Â below average clarity (There is a SHF carryover of $16K for race 7)
10 Test the Water  two year old beat half of his foes in his debut at the MC80K level and now drops down to MC32K and with two straight very fast bullet works to his credit......not sure why but Mendez legged up a low % jock in his debut and once again gives another low % jock the mount........come on Brayan Pena
8 Georgian Road  dueled and cashed it in rather easily in his MC150K debut.......drops way down to the MC32K level and with much better preparatory work for his 2nd start than his 1st........and he might really fly early with the switch to the 7 lbs bug boy Diaz who does fairly well with early speed types
9 Jammers Justice  goofy placement in his debut suggests the race was a gimme......as does today's rider change to Fuentes who is 4 for 8 in the win column (and a 2nd) riding for Mendez over the last couple of months........recent vastly improved 4F gate work put in 5 days ago supports the notion that he was out for air in his debut
5Â Hapi Hapi
12 AE Red Nova SCRATCHED OUT OF THE RACEÂ
13 AE Heraclitus SCRATCHED OUT OF THE RACEÂ
7Â Baltimore Beecho
