Santa Anita for Friday 11 October 2019
Average card at best today. Saturday's looks good.Â
Best of luck as always!
race 1Â Â below average clarity
2 Brickyard Ride  5 Oct trainer scratch out of a MSW race for today's MC50K.........flashed speed and then fell apart in his debut........endurance building works since his 16 Aug MSW debut.......banking on speed with staying power this time around
5 Grovenor Cinch  late runner appears to be screaming out for a race further than 5 1/2F and gets it today in his 3rd lifetime start.......Ruben Fuentes wisely stays put
3 Carnelian Hero  decent a.m work for this Jeff Bonde 1ster........trainer is rather good with MC's and gets Bejarano to ride......and mom has tossed 5 winners from 6 starters and one of them was Stakes winner.......seems dangerous
7Â Mahi Mahi
6Â You'reright Again
race 2Â Â average clarity
1 Smiling to Excess  significant awakening for this two year old filly in her latest.......back in only 3 weeks since her 9L graduating run and with a work in the interim........feeling good........decent shot for back to back wins
3 Vegan  obvious gimme placed way over her noggin in her latest to put some doubt into the minds of those interested in putting in a claim........and note she gets eligible for the sa50kn2 races by entering for $40K
2 Freedom Ride  on the improve with each and every race and if the trend continues today she has as good a shot of taking down this race as anyone in the field
race 3Â Â average clarity
2 Jetovator  both lifetime races on the grass fit well versus this semi-soft looking group.........that and this Eurton three year old gelding should be on or just off of what should be a doable pace.......that is one dangerous proposition for the opposition when the rider happens to be Pratt
5 Cool Your Jets  four year old is at his best racing at today's one mile turf distance (4 0 2 2).....that and it seems like a good spot for 1st time blinkers because as mentioned above the fractions set in this affair should be reasonable and with the new equipment he is likely to sit closer up early
4 Bud Knight  not much of a number in his MSW debut which was a MSW one mile turf race like today but it turned out to be a very key race........moved forward in his 2nd lifetime start........then not much doing in two turf races at Dmr.....back on the SA turf and with vastly improved a.m. work hinting Powell has tweaked something for the better......we shall see about 2 pm pacific
1Â Fravel
race 4  below  average clarity
5 Harliss  should sit on or near the lead in this spot that should yield anywhere from a soft set of fractions at best and average set at worst........potential for better this afternoon racing as a 1st time gelding........drops to the lowest MC level of his career.......and it sure seems to be a good sign that Van Dyke stays up following a race that wasn't anything special
6 U S Hero  if our top pick doesn't lead I believe this Sherlock three year old will especially with a sharp bullet 3F speed drill since his last race on 14 September
3 Rineshaft  MC40K debut fits and the effort is somewhat disguised by a poor start in a very fast time/heat for the given level.....believe 2nd race was a dirty up his form to get away with a drop down to MC20K and not get snatched up by way of a claim
1Â Truest Reward
race 5Â Â average clarity
6 Top Brass  good efforts last 3 of 4 races when racing on SA fast tracks.......trainer Glatt is doing better than his overall record indicates at the fall SA meeting......and his go to guy these days is definitely Talamo as in 12 wins in their last 26 starts as a team
8 Rocko's Wheel  seven year old might be slightly better in sprint races than route races and that really doesn't show in print........last three fast rated sprints look like a fit here.......rider & trainer our 4 for their last 7 as a team over the last couple of months
5 Getaloadofthis  so so works prior to this fellow's two races since Sadler took over the training duties.......preparatory works for today's race are vastly better hinting Sadler has discover something for the better.........rider is struggling especially considering the quality of mounts he has been getting.......might get some of his mojo back here
2Â Concur
7Â Shane Zain
race 6Â Â average clarity
5 Moonlight Drive  needs plenty of time between races and Mulhall shows patience and gives it to her six year old........these kind are quite reliable when they race as the trainer has to have them very ready as it likely be a couple of months before they can race again.......and last but not least this filly is always in the thick of things when racing at 8 of 8 1/2 furlong on the sod
10 AE Forever Juanito  ran wide for a good portion of the race in the 29 August version of this 25K turf race albeit at Dmr......trainer is having a good 2nd half of 2019 and might keep the ball rolling here if his eight year old can hold form
3 Offshore  (4 2 0 1) in turf routes since Richard Baltas took over the training duties........and back to Prat who won the 4 August version of this race albeit over at Del Mar.....dangerous sort
6Â Kylemore
2Â Zip the Monkey
7Â Impression
race 7Â Â below average clarity
4 It's Fitting  good debut for this Cassidy 2nd time starter winning despite some trouble.........five decent works since his 18 August race hints he has remained sharp and might take a logical forward move.......he can make it back to back scores to start his career if he does
3  Tiger Strike  solid turf to dirt run/win .......nice little 3F speed drill since his 22 September graduation day........speed jock Maldonado stays put giving this gelding with some speed the best shot of getting the early lead.....and speed has been better than average to start the fall SA meeting
7 Minoso  lookout here as the works are improved and Talamo stays put........gelding seems best racing at today's 6F distance.......four year old tends to hang in the stretch or would have rated higher
8 Ishi  SCRATCHED OUT
5Â Satanta
race 8Â Â above average clarity
4 Kittyhawk Lass  monumental rider upgrade for a grass race.......filly is only a couple of lengths short of par for what it takes to win today's racing level........the vastly better turf rider should help get needed "lengths" out of her
7 Posh Holly  filly has much more early speed than most will surmise.......T C Baze hopefully will send her hard early to clear all or most by the start of the back stretch.........like his chances if that is what occurs
2 Coldwater  5 of 6 lifetime distance grass races all fit solidly in this spot........improved a.m. work of late hinting she might be up for her lifetime strongest run to date......Smith wisely sticks around and sticks around for his only mount on the Friday card.....she should be flying late
9Â Heathers Grey
5Â Red Bunting
