Not crazy about today's card and especially with all the rain the track has taken.

race 1    average clarity

3  Paint Me Lucky   never supported at the windows in all four lifetime races (lowest odds were 14 to 1) which is extremely rare for a Bob Baffert MSW runner........3 bad races in a row until the 4th race which was a par like effort run off of 4 1/4 months rest.........off since the 7 June 18 race but returns as a 1st time gelding...........and that and/or something woke him up as his a.m. prowess is vastly improved

1  Abusive Gary   solid 2nd place finish in his 2nd lifetime start which was run last winter run off of 18 days rest on an off track........third start was a muscle him up layoff turf route to help boost his endurance........that race was 13 days ago.......should be ready to roll

5  Lambeau   trainer John Shirreffs is red hot so with that in mind this colt's debut may have been nothing more than a muscle him route turf tune-up......work regiment since the race 17 August race supports the notion

 

race 2    below average clarity

1  Awesome Score   SCRATCHED OUT OF THE RACE   sprint turf tightener in his MSW debut should have him muscled up and ready to go with the often magical drop from MSW to mid priced MC........that and his works on the dirt stand out some here.....with Garcia gone we get a jock upgrade to Cedillo.......decent pedigree for an off track

7  Truest Reward   race two back fits fine and today this gelding races sprint-route-sprint & turf to turf........that has the potential to get even more out of him.......we shall see if it will about 1 pm pacific

6  Chosen Moon  SCRATCHED OUT OF THE RACE   Ellis colt showed some live in his debut and now takes that dangerous drop from MSW racing to MC and with the blinkers going on........and we get a jock upgrade........good pedigree to handle the off going if that is what we wind up getting

4  More Honor   don't mind the significant drop down for this Glatt four year old as he has yet to be victorious in 2019 earning only chump change..........only off track was quite good and disguised in it's strength........1st time Prat........hard not to like

2  Don'tteasethetiger   colt was able to come home a winner despite a very wide trip........deservedly steps up and does so with a rider upgrade......two reassuring works since his latest suggests he has hold form

8  Imagineiamfastest   hot trainer in Carava and a good portion of his success is with Abel Cedillo who owns back to back wins on this four year old........mostly placed 3rd because the gelding is (4 0 0 0) at Del Mar.....but then again an off Del Mar main track might be a different story

6  Whatsittoya  SCRATCHED OUT OF THE RACE

1  Impression  SCRATCHED OUT OF THE RACE  gelding is 4 for 9 at the distance and his last race having to deal with an off track (4 races back) is decent.......his latest racing endeavor is arguably his lifetime best and only his 2nd start with Bill Spawr as the trainer.......and you have to like the confidence he shows in his new addition to his barn as he moves him up two claiming levels

2  Lagoon Macaroon   two for two at today's one mile dirt distance and both of the races were run at Del Mar and with today's rider Maldonado in the irons........like our top choice his connections show confidence in him stepping him up multiple levels

4  Leroy   mixed bag here.........this gelding's last two races (both sprints) are strong better than par efforts.........and he has run well and won on an off track.......but he might not care for the two turns and has a trainer who is 0 for his last 25 sprint to route.......somethings gotta give

9  Swift Socks   Spawr 1st time starter has hit track every 6 or 7 days dating way back to at least 3 September.......and the two works put in at Dmr since switching over from SA hints he likes the surface........rather confidant this filly is meant and ready to roll..........pedigree for an off track is decent

3  Secret Square   latest which run at today's maiden level is a par like effort and run off of ample time off (58 days)......decent works since and this time around this filly races off of 42 days rest........good pedigree to handle an off track

5  La Croix   exits a very fast MSW heat at GG where getting beat by 8 3/4 lengths still worked out to be a pretty decent number for today's lower MC level......pedigree for conventional dirt (and the off going) is decent

10  Ladies Luv Munny

1  Sabinos Pride   very strong one mile turf Santucci fig earned (considering today's lower level) in her last her 2nd lifetime start........if she can transfer that ability to a dirt sprint today she should be a ton

2  Trouville    SCRATCHED OUT OF THE RACE solid forward move in this girl's 2nd lifetime start and 1st with Prat up........blinkers go on today and Powell is 3 for his last 13 with the move..........Prat wisely stays put

4  Sister Diablo   being ready at 1st asking is not a strong move for Baltas with MC 1st time starters......but this filly shows some signs of life in the a.m.

5  Miss Kitness

3  Bold Endeavor   very sloppy ride by Gutierrez in this gelding's last hides a solid run.......new jock today and a good one in Drayden Van Dyke.......one for one at Del Mar.........owns a very solid pedigree for an off track

6  Canadian Game   last two grass race are OK.....but his race 3 back which was on the SA dirt is very strong........hot rider/trainer combo in Cedillo/Carava.........and like our top selection he has a pedigree that usually can handle the off going

1  High Five   very dangerous speed and with quite the weight advantage over the field..........and then there is the trainer's record at this meeting........as in 4 wins and a 2nd with 5 starters.......yikes

9  Soldier Boy   three year old colt got away with a ridiculously slow pace to wire the field and graduate.......and the a.m. work since hint the seemingly stress-free race benefited him greatly........rather sure if he handles the off or drying out Dmr main track he will pop his lifetime top today........and he has a good pedigree for the off going

1  Truck Salesman   2 for 2 at today's six furlong distance and 0 for 8 at all other distances........seems to own the best early gas in the field.......Edwin Roman has a solid history riding this three year old (7 2 4 0)

5  Touching Rainbows  SCRATCHED OUT OF THE RACE  handles Del Mar and owns a stout record racing at today's 6F distance.......only off track race is poor but was run a long time ago.........jock upgrade

3  Mr. Unusual   Freeman is only 1 for his last 30 with 1st time starters but the a.m. work (especially his last two works at Dmr) for this two year old gelding are too good to ignore........only cost 15K at sale so why not debut for MC32K

8  Eustace    both lifetime races run at Del Mar fit well at today's level of racing........and........back to the jock in Bejarano who was up for both races..........good off track pedigree to boot

6  Promise Nothing   par like effort in his 2nd lifetime race considering today's lower level......that race was run turf to dirt......needs to accomplish the task at hand dirt to dirt this time around.....fits fine if he does
