Los Alamitos for Friday 6 December 2019

So so card today. But kudos to Lrc as Saturday's card might wind up being the best in the nation.

Best of luck as always!

race 1    average clarity

6  Big Barrel   lone route was run two back and it is exceptionally strong (and that's hidden to some degree) for the 12.5nw2 level........ it was run sprint to route off of 10 days rest........sprint six days ago - route today......hmmm

4  Dr. Bagley   not too hot on the Del Mar surface (2 races) but 4 of his 6 racing endeavors at other tracks fit fine.......1st time Wong today who wins about one third of the time over his last 150 starts "1st time trainer"

1  Fast as Cass   gelding seems best racing one mile on the dirt but doesn't seem to understand what it means to pass the last horse or so in front of him.......thus his (18 1 2 7) lifetime record........might be the surest to hit the board but not necessarily to win

race 2    average clarity

2  Slewbury Park   faced the boys in her debut so that to me suggests the race was a tune-up.......good early speed displayed in her debut.......cut back in distance seems like a positive.......Velez easily led the Fall Lrc meeting in wins........seemingly a soft field........trainer is decent with 2nd time starters......all make for top choice

5  Aurora Night   so so MC debut but blinkers go on and with an improved series of 5F drills this time around (as opposed to 4F drills prior to her debut).......no play on the board either........there likely will be today

6  Bayonce   works well but has yet to carry-over her a.m. prowess to the afternoon.......but.......takes that often magical drop from MSW racing to MC........might be now or never

race 3    below average clarity

3  Rineshaft   big race 2 back with 1st time blinkers run off of 14 days rest......over his head in latest......back in 12 days..........and with a solid 5F work just 3 days ago.....that folks is a strong sign that this Palma colt is well meant today

5  Grab the Muny   one for one at Lrc and gets to run turf to dirt and off of a turf race that is solid and then some for today's lower level.......hard not to like

1  Savagery   can't drop this declining colt fast enough......but Miller is hardly ever afraid to lose a horse so still dangerous especially if inside speed is doing OK

race 4    average clarity

5  Desert General   appreciates the Lrc surface and also the abbreviated sprint distances of 5 & 5 1/2 furlongs......capable of winning on or off of the pace......sharp improved preparatory drill and from a high percentage trainer in Wong.......seems poised for a top effort

9  Ps Bettin On You   high percentage trainer and especially so off of breaks of 90 days are more......as in 3 for his last 5 with the other two hitting the board.........gelding should be in the mix from the get go hardly ever a bad thing in a 5 furlong dirt race

8  Short of Ez   back where belongs as in a sprint after giving two turn racing a whirl........(3 2 0 1) at Lrc and 5F appears to be a good fit.......hard not to appreciate his prowess at Lrc........dangerous sort

3  Buster Douglas

6  Royal Seeker

race 5    average clarity

9  Hardcore Troubador   awfully nice gelding especially considering the conditions of this race........and he is working like a Stakes horse of late........should be in the mix from the get go

4  Heartfullofstars   sure likes Lrc and ran a 107:4 364 days ago off of 34 days rest.........35 days rest this time around.........and his a.m. work suggests he has been wisely pointed for this (protected) race

8  Oil Can Knight   three year old has won his last 4 dirt races in a row including his lone lifetime run at Lrc........just claimed by Knapp who wins his fair share 1st out following a claim............Abel Cedillo gets the call and he is (3 2 1 0) on the improving youngster

10  Italiano

5  Saratoga Morning

race 6    average clarity

7  Miss Fia   2 for 2 lifetime winning both of her career races by daylight......ran the same number in both races which are both short of par for today's nw alw level by 2L.......but......much improved a.m. work since her last.........especially enamored with her bullet best of 63 5F drill produced only 4 days ago......seemingly feeling great when it counts the most

6  Edna   3 for 3 lifetime on the dirt and like our top choice winning all her races by daylight.......lookout if her last was just a turf gimme to muscle her up and drop for today's race at Lrc........she broke her MC debut winning by 12L in a 5F race up for 40K which is the same tag she runs for today

2  Love a Honeybadger   mare has seen better days but she can be very difficult to wheel in loose on the lead which she might be this afternoon

1  Tijori

race 7    below average clarity

4  Saving Sophie   on the improve with each and every start........last might get the job done but if the improving trend continues today for this Ellis filly this race could have been rated average clarity rather than below average clarity........Van Dyke wisely sticks around

8  Visual Magic   lifetime best and very much hidden is it's strength is her lone dirt race which was run two back at SA........filly had a very wide trip near the pace setters on a day the wood was a little biased.....that race was run turf sprint to dirt sprint........turf route in her last (and a decent one) and dirt route today........hmmm

3  Vegas Palm   filly finally is able to race off of short rest and draws the attention of Prat and his agent..........1st on the dirt but her pedigree says the transition should not be a problem

7  Sunriser

10  Unicorn

race 8    average clarity

3  Ridgeway   nice wake up at Tup with the blinkers going on.......trainer does well with shippers.........gelding ran a 109:1 at the race at Tup........don't see anyone in this field running capable of that even considering how lightning fast Tup can be at times

1  Harliss   works better than he runs.......but three factors might help him out this afternoon - cut back in distance - blinkers going on - and having a solid bug boy and his weight break on his back

7  U S Hero   lifetime best was his lone race at 5 1/2 furlongs on the Lrc surface........that and he held together fairly well racing at 6F in his latest which might boost his endurance some for today

8  Wild Cat Canyon

10  L'Engineer

2  Ziyanair
