Los Alamitos for Saturday 7 December 2019

Kudos to Lrc as this might be the best Saturday card in the nation. And I hope the rain doesn't effect the track much as I sure like the card handicapping wise as well.

Best of luck as always!

race 1    above average clarity

4  Bully for Eric   race lacks early speed and has this three year old has plenty if it he breaks well which he doe's about two thirds of the time........trainer is solid 2nd out after a claim (7 for his last 22) and dropping multiple levels (3 for his last 6 with 2 others hitting the board).......toss his last checked hard early.........jock stays put supporting the idea this three year old is healthy enough despite the significant drop in claiming

3  Rmanie's Grey Suit   both Lrc races run at 5 1/2 furlongs fit well........layoff last sure appears to be an endurance building tune-up.......good apprentice rider........trainer does well with very limited starters

8  Seattle Encounter   seemingly never sharper and if the uptrend continues this gelding has a shot to make his record at Lrc move to (7 1 0 2) from (6 0 0 2).........jock knows this gelding well

6  Puriano

5  Torwards the Light

race 2    average clarity

8  Malibu Magic   believe the 4 and the 5 and maybe the 7 will go after the lead which should create a lively pace and enhance the chances of this mid pack runner.......race two back at Lrc fits fine here.......and for today he not only gets a jock upgrade but also gets a break in the weights........such a deal

7  Derby Storm  believe the best shot for success for this three year old is to avoid a speed duel with the 4 horse and attempt to take back some........he does show some signs that he can still run OK without the front end

6  Western Flyer   2nd lifetime start wasn't much but his maiden debut was decent especially since it was in a route race which is almost always a difficult task to accomplish successfully.........three old might be motoring late

2  Sharpshootingeorge

4  Spectator's Dream

race 3    average clarity

1  Meistermind   nicely improved since Mark Glatt claimed 3 races back......jock wisely stays put........sure stands out here so much that he likely could overcome some trip trouble and still come home a winner if he holds form

2  Street to Indy   by far at his best racing at Lrc and also seems to appreciate the 1 1/16 distance offered in this race........Baze should find a nice ground saving stalk or mid pack position at least thru turn one......and that folks is 1/2 the battle

4  Arch Anthem   it is possible that his latest which was his 1st following the Baltas claim was nothing more than a turf tightener........because Mr Baltas is an eye-popping 11 for his last 24 2nd out following a claim

7  Blue Dancer

race 4    average clarity

1  Anneau d'Or  B C Juv near win was no fluke as this colt earned a number that would have taken down quite a few BC Juv races throughout the years.......should be a handful if he takes to the Lrc surface (a ? mark for all in the race) and holds form

3  Thousand Words   powerful effort time/number to win his MSW sprint debut at 1st asking for Baffert and company........and the connections didn't shell out $1,000,000 to own themselves a nice sprinter

2  Wrecking Crew   two year old was 3L behind our top selection in the BC Juvenile........and basically has shown up in all four lifetime races and 2 of them were G1 races and another a G2........not out of the win picture by any means

race 5    above average clarity

7  Speed Pass   lone race was run in a stellar 108:3 way back in Sept. and at Lrc..........works since are solid......Baffert likely has waited patiently for a chance to get this fellow another shot on the Lrc surface.......should be one tough cookie this afternoon

3  Torosay  blinkers on for this fellows 2nd lifetime start and it was quite the success as he creamed the field running an excellent time for 5 1/2 furlongs on the grass at SA for a MSW...........pedigree for the dirt might be even better.......if it is he might be capable of giving our top choice a run for his money

4  Rogallo   deep closer might not be impossible if he gets a hot pace up front as he gets in light with the sharp apprentice Jorge Velez in the saddle

2  League of Shadows

race 6    average clarity

3  Message   last 3 races might do the trick but than again they might not and at low odds.......what we want is her effort 5 back which what crush these unless she doesn't handle her 1st at a route.......the race 5 back is significant in that it is the only race she ran from off of the pace.........so it's earth to Bob Baffert (and believe me I say that with the utmost respect) have the Dykester take back early

5  Amatara   very suspicious that this filly is in for the optional 50K as her 1st at a route in her latest pegged her as a future route dirt Stakes runner.......but if she is OK she likely takes down this race

1  Mongolian Empire   scenario is the 5 is "shot" and the 3 didn't take to route racing........if both occur this Mongolian might be the last one standing and win running a weak time for the given class

race 7    average clarity

3  Donna Veloce   Callaghan two year old filly has done little wrong in two lifetime starts winning her debut by 9 1/4 and then missing a win in the Breeders Cup in the last jump .......she will likely stalk Bast who has plenty of early gas

2  Bast   owns an abundance of early speed and seemingly can get the lead if she wants it but she is capable of running well without it......my guess is the connections will go with the flow as in adapting to how the track is playing

5  K P Dreamin   best preparatory drill in a long time or maybe ever........connections will have their fingers crossed that our top two selections duke it out early........if so this Mullins two year old filly can pull an upset

race 8    above average clarity

6  Ra'ad   caught one nasty spot in his debut in a race that I projected to be run 5 lengths better than par and was......so being beaten by less than 8L and with a pace factor of 3L (in other words a rather fast set of fractions) worked out to be an adjusted Santucci fig that was slightly better than par......and since the race better a.m. work showing........likely moving forward for Baffert and company

2  Absolute Unit    colt's MSW debut is better than appears in print as he dueled in very fast fractions on a slightly dull rail at Del Mar on 9 Nov.........he did quite well to get beaten by 9L......two solid works since.......seems likely to give a good account of himself

4  Phast Pharoah   not all that impressive in 4 lifetime starts but that might change with the blinkers going on today.........as his a.m. work is vastly improved hinting the equipment change is what he needed.......we shall see about 3:58 p.m. pacific time

3  Hallowed Gift

1  War Path

race 9    average clarity

6  Champs Success   working for his MC50K debut as if his $1,700 purchase price was a steal.......and when a given individual goes for so little at sale it is easy to start them for the 50K tag........last two gate works hint this gelding has plenty of early speed

10  Baltimore Beecho   nice improvement in his 4th lifetime start earning a par like fig for today's MC level in a race 15 days ago at SA.......only race at Lrc was decent........seems likely to get a nice stalk position........Baze wisely sticks around

9  Startling   1st time starter is training as if he is he might be ready to roll at 1st asking.......not much showing in his a.m. work until his last two drills which are decent gate drills.......might be peaking at the right time as in right before his debut

4  Ridge Route

12 AE  He's a Hit

1  Papa Tony

2  Beyond Preacher
