race 1   average clarity

4  Unicorn   only lifetime grass race that does not fit is her last which was run off of only 8 days rest (very un-Baltas like)........away since 20 Oct but training as if she is fully fit........owns some speed in a race that lacks.......good grass rider up..........hard not to like

6  Saving Sophie   lone turf race was a grass sprint debut where she went off 28 to 1 hinting it was a tune-up......next three races were 2nd place finishes on the dirt two of which were route races........OK grass breeding and proven on the dirt around two turns.......very solid racing at mile today if she turns out to be a grass horse

3  Miss Tokyo   SCRATCHED OUT OF THE RACE  double barrel action from Baltas as he also trains our top selection........and like her barn mate this filly should sit close to the front in a race that seems to favor those that do

8  New Drama

7  Vegas Palm

race 2    average clarity

3  Dabzilla   Headley gets the job done with MSW 1st time starters at about a 20% clip and he appears to have this filly ready to roll to begin her career.......the work regiment he has put into this youngster is similar to many in the past that preformed at a high level in their debut

2  Yellow Shirt   brutal week for O'Neill last week as he sent out 18 runners and failed to capture a win.......but.......he might start out the new week on a positive note with this filly 1ster who finished up her prolonged work tab with a nice bullet 5/8ths gate drill over at Slr

5  On Mars   best of the three horses that have started a race but that isn't saying much as despite running 3rd beaten only 1 3/4L for the win this girl's number earned was dismal.........but careful as the two drills she put in since her MSW debut are vastly improved......rather sure she moves forward today........to what degree is the ? mark

race 3    average clarity

5  Mongolian Humor   great spot for this Cerin five year old mare who has been facing much better.........all three fast rated dirt races since Cerin claimed are much better than par for today's lower level.......easy to put as top selection

2  Eternal Endeavor   race seemingly sets up for someone capable of winning off of the pace like this mare or our top pick.......six year old is (4 3 1 0) on conventional dirt rated fast......easy to make as our 2nd choice but it will take a forward more and/or something to go amiss with the 5 horse to hit pay dirt here

6  Nomizar   3 speed horses in the race and three off pace runners and this filly is one of them......and as mentioned above I'm going with the late on the scene gals

race 4    average clarity

4  Swing Thoughts   filly has run well sprint to route the last two times she made the maneuver........sprint to route today and also turf to dirt for this relatively new addition to the Bob Hess barn........four year seems well meant this afternoon

2  Sugary   runs well with plenty of time between starts and Martin Jones shows patience and gives it to his 7 year old mare........sure like these kind as you know the trainer will have them at a peak as it likely will be about a season away until they can make their next start

3  Miss Flawless   filly seems to be in rebound mode every since she was taken off of Laisx......good to see Prat remain up as he has gotten more out of this girl than any other rider so far

6  Seaside Dancer

race 5    average clarity

3  Peedie   red ink so far for this Ben Cecil four year old........so why not drop all the way from MSW racing to the bottom MC level.........away since July but training as if he might crush the field if he can carryover his a.m. prowess to the p.m.

11  Time N Money   away for over a year but both lifetime starts fit and now he returns as a 1st time gelding......that and he drops 3 MC levels to the bottom MC20K level.......works are good......believe that he is meant and ready

12  Cryin' Chuck   yet another pick that is dropping multiple levels and has been away from the game for quite awhile......and he is training as though he might pop his lifetime best this afternoon.......hard to ask for more than that

10  Rough Ride

2  Royal Ranger

race 6    average clarity

3  Whatsittoya   decent chance that this gelding's latest was just a spin around the track in a protected race to put some doubt into the minds of the claiming vultures lurking overhead..........that and Bob Hess is very dangerous 2nd out after a layoff.........gelding is capable of winning on or off of the pace

6  Rinse and Repeat   4 of the 7 runners in this field have plenty of early speed.......so.........the connections have to like the spot they have for this six year old who usually comes from far back.......that and his dirt races at SA sure fit well at today's lower level

7  Black Storm   like our 2nd choice this late running fellow should be aided by what looks like a race profile that favors those sitting back some......that and Gary Stute has won 3 of his last 11 2nd out following a claim which is the case here

4  Toothless Wonder

race 7    average clarity

4  Murad Khan   last three races run fit well in this spot and they were at today's one mile turf distance..........gelding is 6 for 12 at the distance and 0 for 5 at other turf distances........away since 17 Nov. but he has been able to put in 8 works in the interim........feeling good

5  Winning Element   seems like a good claim by one up and coming young trainer in Andrew Lerner as this lightly raced six year old is on the improve.......rider has been cold but has done a nice job riding this fellow.......gelding seems likely to get a nice ground saving stalk position behind our 3rd pick

6  Dreams of Valor   not much turf ability outside of SA and needs "firm" turf.......Santa Anita today and very firm turf.......recent a.m. work is quite a bit better.......speed rider likely gets what he wants as in a loose lead........dangerous sort

2  Truth Seeker

3  Order and Law

race 8    below average clarity

9  Golden Victory   no support at the windows at all (28 to 1 in a 7 horse field) in his latest which was run off of a layoff......that suggests he wasn't all that wound up for his return to the races and yet he ran a good better than it appears race.....two solid 5F drills since his 1 Jan race.......rather sure he runs his lifetime best today

10  Blazing Home   Baltas 1st time starter has put in a boat load of works and many are tightly spaced.......usually you don't train that way and then give your horse a gimme especially when he is up for a tag.......ready........likely.........how much talent does he have........we shall see at about 4:30 pm pacific time

2  Princeofthenorth   1st timer has plenty of works put in especially for a low level MC.........and hopefully one of his drills is telltale........it was worked 5 works back and is quite strong......connections might have backed off following the work so as not to be claimed

1  Taco Waco

8  Outright
