Gulfstream Park for Thursday 9 April 2020

As long as Gulfstream Park stays open we will be covering the last 6 races at Gulfstream Park Thursday thru Sunday until Santa Anita racing returns.

Best of luck as always!

race 5   average clarity

7  Dr. Doyle   fifth lifetime start - fifth different rider and a good one in Saez.......red hot week for Cibelli - red hot week for Saez.......gelding seems best taking back some and having a target or two in front of him......believe that is what Saez will do

2  Spiritual King   high % trainer in Pletcher who is almost double his win percentage with the MSW to MC move.......cut back in turf distance appears to be a plus as does Zayas staying put as he is often tough on the front end of things which he might be able to get here

13 AE  Chocolate Bar   SCRATCHED OUT OF THE RACE  monumental rider change for the better especially for a grass race.......MC debut was decent for this gelding and I doubt he was all that "meant".......rider/trainer are 7 for their last 15 over that last two months as a team

3  More Than Usual

5  Ratify

4  Fork Union

race 6    average clarity

5  Three Deep  all 3 lifetime sprint races fit solidly in this spot and they were all run on the GP main track......might be up for his best yet as he just put in a best of 22 4F GP bullet work only 6 days ago........hard not to like

10  Embrace My Uncle   low percentage trainer but he is able to Saez to ride (and he got Oritz to ride his last 2 races) hinting this three year old gelding has held form.......like the cut back in distance of a quarter mile as his 6F splits in his previous 2 mile races are very fast considering today's level of racing........trainer has a shot to double his win % today

6  W W Candy   last sure looked like a tune-up/gimme to set up today's drop into MC......trainer Scott Becker has had a better meeting than his 8% win percentage suggests as he has been in the exacta a respectable 17 of 60.......should be a price

9  Quiet Company  SCRATCHED OUT OF THE RACE

8  Unprecedented

race 7    average clarity

3  Frank First   Ron Spatz sure appears to have found the trump card for this three year old has run two consecutive races that fit well at today's level if of course he takes to the turf in his 1st career endeavor on it.......pedigree for it is decent and he has the right jock to get the job done in the hot Gaffalione

4  Dominate Themoment   won for fun in his last with a top echelon jock up for the 1st time in his 6 race career........Rosario stays put......trainer is a solid 20% win with repeat winners (last 25) and he has a decent chance to boost that percentage today

6  King of Ranch   three year old colt is (4 2 1 1) racing on the GP lawn at today's distance of one mile.....hot trainer at the helm in Maker.......still it appears this colt might need to rebound to his efforts 3 or 4 back.......might be up for it as the trainer isn't afraid to drop and win yet he doesn't drop his relatively new acquisition

2  Money Ride

race 8    average clarity

2  Crupi's Pizza Dom   trainer is a gaudy 46% win with his last 2 dozen that he drops following a claim........that is the case here with his new gelding who sure is working since the claim as if his conditioner can pad that significant stat some more.......and with the claim comes one major league jock upgrade

7  Preacher Marsee   like our top choice this colt also drops one level and shows better recent a.m. work........and he draws Luis Saez which supports the notion this Robert Miller four year old is doing well

5  Volubile   yet another dropping to get to the winners circle and in his case it is a multiple level drop down.......trainer Bob Hess shows signs of waking up at GP and the "wake-up" has a shot to continue this afternoon with this four year old gelding who until his latest race ran many efforts that fit solidly in this spot

9  Uncle Curly

6  A I Initiative

10  Hero Up  SCRATCHED OUT OF THE RACE

race 9    average clarity

7  Blewitt   six year old has run two lifetime two turn races (both at 9F) and they are arguably his two best of 9 career starts........not much showing in two lifetime starts at GP (his last two races) but he continues to train well.......N.Y. bred has back numbers that are solid vs today's competition.......hot rider up.......should be a price

2  Youngest of Five   Saez looks as if he took our 3rd pick over this four year old but Rosario will do just fine.......Joel should get a great trip breaking from the two hole and with a gelding who owns tactical speed and maybe the best speed in the field if he handles his 1st to date around two turns

4  Moretti   blinkers back on sure doesn't make sense as this colt is (6 1 2 1) lifetime and the only two races with the blinkers on were bad off the board efforts.......still Pletcher trains (also trains our top pick) and Saez wants.......hard to leave out of the win picture.....pun intended

5  Admire

3  To Dare

race 10    below average clarity

8  Act Like Artie  nice move forward in her 2nd lifetime start and the strength of the effort is disguised by a bad trip.......Maker switched gears work wise with his three year old as he has put three decent 4F works into her as opposed to a steady diet of 5F drills in the past.....that hints we will see better early speed from her and the race shape for this affair appears to favor those on or near the lead

11  Valletta   beat our top choice in her latest which was also her 2nd lifetime race and a move forward but she had a much better trip.....she owns some early speed and as mentioned above the race shape for this affair appears to favor those on or near the lead

5  Mighty Road   big bucks 1st time starter from the Chad Brown must be respected as when it comes to the grass Chad Brown is as good as it gets over the last 2 or 3 years and that includes with 1st time starters on the turf

3  Passion Factor

7  Dur a Cuire

4  Capable
