Gulfstream Park for Saturday 11 April 2020

Toughest card to decipher of the three cards that we have handicapped so far. There is racing on Easter Sunday.

Best of luck as always!

race 8    average clarity

1  Per Capita   not the best of trips for this colt in both lifetime races run last summer for Chad Brown and company........both races were run in fairly fast times for the given level and day.........works are many and solid........hot jock up......lone four year old in the race.......believe this laid up colt is ready to strut his stuff fresh off of the bench

2  Cornbred Kingdom   likely needed his layoff race and the two strong 4F drills since his layoff run support the notion........race lacks speed and he has a touch and with those 2 fast 4F drills he seems likely to sit close or maybe even on the lead with a clean break

7  Colonel Liam   Pletcher/Saez and a very expensive 1st time starter........works seem decent enough........Pletcher wins about 20% of the time with MSW 1st timers debuting in a route.......that is very good stat as preparing a given runner to run 8F or more in their debut is no easy task

3  Golden Wave

8  Liberty Blue

race 9    average clarity

4  Young Raymond  good gate horse and he is improving with each and every race.........seems like a good claim by Maker and a good spot for an improving speed horse as there is a definite lack of early speed in the race for an abbreviated sprint of only 5F

5  Bahamian Prince   consistent sort (6 2 1 2 1) and his two wins can the only two races that he was up for sale.......up for sale toady......red hot trainer at the helm........and he gets Saez to ride who handled this gelding nicely to win with a clean trip the only time he rode this three year old.......hard not to like

7  Zanno   away since last summer where he ran two solid 5F turf races that fit in this spot.......blinkers come off for his return to the race wars........stout a.m. work and it is on the turf.......cold rider up but he did win yesterday........owns some speed in a race lacking it........not out of the win picture by any means......pun intended

1  Fluent in Sarcasm

2  Givemetwenty

race 10    average clarity

1  Boerne   impressive move forward in her 2nd lifetime start to graduate in style with a gate to wire 3 1/2L win.........and since the race she put in an eye-popping 46 flat breeze at GP.......trainer is quite reliable when his horse's should "big works".......hard not to like

4  Gogo Shoes   like our top selection this Tampa invader improved quite a bit in her 2nd lifetime start to graduate........good sign that the Tampa trainer is able to coax a top tier jock in Paco Lopez to ride

3  Good Credence   fily was on the improve with each and every race run last summer/fall in New York........blinkers come off this Margotta filly and the trainer owns an excellent history with the equipment change........not sure is this filly is fully ready off of the 6 month layoff but "lookout" if she is

6  Chart

5  Wanderlust

race 11    below average clarity

10  Battle of Blenheim  3 for 4 at today's turf distance........2 for 9 at other turf distances......red hot rider/trainer combo in Saez/Maker.......10 post but outside of the one horse there are many "slow early" runners lined up inside of this gelding.......so that gives Saez an excellent opportunity to get on over and sit fairly close to the front end of things going into turn one......like his chances if that is what transpires

6  Notsosubtle   five year old gelding has been absent since Sept. 2018 when he ran a strong effort in a Stakes race at GP........returns with a new trainer who does OK getting a given horse to preform at a high level following an extended hiatus from the game.......and the fact that he puts Jaramillo up hints this five year old is ready to roll as the jock gets nothing but "live" runners from the trainer

9  Fifth Title   trainer does well with limited starters......like the rider change especially so for a grass race.........Berrios for me is a grass riding specialist who has a higher win % on the sod than all of the big boys albeit with a much smaller sapling

14 AE  Souper Scat Daddy

1  Sublime Appeal

5  Blueridge Mountain

race 12    below average clarity

4  Liza Star   one great claim for 6,250 10 races back for Walder and company........6 straight wins when racing at 5 1/2 or 6 furlongs and all of the races were run at GP.........and today's jock M Vasquez was up for all but one of those wins......hard not to like

7  Heiressal   lifetime best by my book was run 3 back and was the only time Paco Lopez got the mount on this Teresa Pompay five year old mare.........mid pack runner gets a race shape that can favor of those that sit pack some in the early stages like she does

2  J P's Delight   hard to argue with 4 for 5 lifetime for this O'Connell four year old filly who is able to duel eye to eye and still open up a lead.....few can......mostly placed as 3rd selection because her two races on the GP surface are not as good as her 3 run elsewhere

9  Pacific Gale

6  Starship Bonita

race 13    below average clarity

2  Farley   blocked in the stretch in his latest which might have left some "gas in the tank" for today's start......and his stout recent a.m. work sure supports the notion......should be a price

9  Twenty Four Seven   trainer owns many "amazing stats" but two of his most prolific ones are "1st following a claim" & with "claim repeaters"......both pertain here......that and Joseph has won 3 of his last 6 teaming up with today's jock Luis Saez.........hard not to consider

4  Flyoff   fabulous meeting for Weaver at GP for the winter.......will the spring meeting continue the good times........they can if this gelding can repeat his last vs. where he had a less than desirable trip and still was only 2 1/4 behind the winner at the wire
