race 1    below average clarity

4  Silk From Heaven   filly is crying out for more turf sprint distance to cover and gets it today.......and that won't be the case for many signed up for this 6F alw. grass race.........J J Hernandez stays put for a 3rd straight mount on this youngster........should be a price

2  Navy Queen   badly in need of a layoff as her form was poor last winter.........returns with a significant trainer upgrade and Sadler has put copious drills into his new shooter the last of which was only 4 days ago and a near bullet 4F work

3  La Aguililla   very competitive in 2020 and like our top selection the added turf sprint distance appears to be a plus especially if Fuentes takes back some in the early stages

5  Sofi's Gold  SCRATCHED OUT OF THE RACE

7  Sweet Rafaela

race 2    below average clarity

5  True Mischief   popped her lifetime best in start number ten to graduate in style with a 5L win and with gaps of 4L and 6L to 3rd and 4th.......solid reassuring SA 48:1H work since hints she has held form........(4 1 1 2) in dirt distance races without blinkers........good to see bug boy stay put with his 7 lbs weight break

3  Mariah Girl   fits on the drop down if of course this O'Neill filly handles her 1st ever on the dirt.......her pedigree for it seems OK

1  Midnight Jamboree   another who just ran her lifetime best to graduate and she ran the race off of 2 1/2 months rest..........so........7 months off since graduation day might be a positive for this Bill Spawr filly

race 3    average clarity

2  C Falls   J J Hernandez should be able to save ground most of the way either on the lead or stalking it.........trainer has made the most of her limited starts in 2020 and she is often at her best 3rd out following a layoff which is the case today for this Shelbe Ruiz four year old

1  I'm Leaving You   the lead should go to our top choice or this Vann Belvoir three year old.......jock upgrade especially for a grass race.......only time this gelding has been up for a tag it led to his lone lifetime win......and the win was at SA and in a one mile grass race like today where he started from post one

5  Talking   dangerous looking invader from the east coast who was just claimed for $50K and runs 1st out for Falcone for the same claiming price

7  Hoop Dream

race 4    below average clarity

5  You're All Talk   good start to the meeting for Eurton as he is sending out live runners........two year old filly is on the right end of the learning curve and her recent drill with 1st time blinkers indicates she will move forward once again

7  Cold Brew Kelly   filly has run 2nd 3 of her 4 lifetime sprints one of which was on conventional dirt where she beat our top choice by 1/2 length........Steve Sherman does not win very often in S Cal but might pick up a "W" here

2  Varoma   filly drops one MC level and retains Pyfer and her 7 lbs weight break.......like her chances much more if the rail firms up today as it was a little dull and so it was tough on inside speed the 1st two days on the SA meeting

9  Misericors

1  Malibu Jewel

race 5    average clarity

9  Agata  here is part of our 3rd choice comment for this Gaines runner in her MSW debut, "very dangerous looking works for this Carla Gaines MSW 1st timer but a little suspect as far as a turf pedigree is concerned"........she ran well and the turf sprint should set her up well for today's turf route race........works continue to be impressive......all set but needs to handle a route which pedigree wise might be a challenge

1  Smoothlikebuttah   big awakening in her latest with the blinkers taken off........1st on the grass and 1st at a route but her pedigree for both is decent.........Cedillo sticks around for a 5th straight race and he sure could use his 1st win at the meet

7  Bingos System   most likely to grab the lead especially with a rider in Maldonado who makes his living with speed types........2nd time grass for this filly and that is one of the trainer's better stats.......dangerous sort

2  Warren's Candy Girl

4  Miss Ever Ready

race 6    below average clarity

4  Shashashakemeup  SCRATCHED OUT OF THE RACE very dangerous invader arguably fired his lifetime best 1st out following the Peter Miller claim at CD on 27 November.........two reassuring works since and Peter indices Prat to ride......cut back to 6 1/2F from 7f appears to be a positive.......hard not to like

6  King of Speed   powerful work tab for this Bonde four year old and retains Mike Smith for a fifth straight time.......believe this route horse will show better sprint speed than most will anticipate (see grass sprint on 21 March)......danger city

3  Leading Score  SCRATCHED OUT OF THE RACE  impressive works for this Baffert six year old who will be 7 tomorrow and yet has made only 9 lifetime starts.......and he was a vet scratch on 26 November......tough call as to how healthy this horse is........but.......sure dangerous if he is doing OK

race 7    above average clarity

1  Javancia   Eoin Harty has had a decent 2020 and likely is riding high with an upset win in a Grade 1 on opening day........two year old filly has run solid efforts in both lifetime one mile grass races one at AP (key race) and the other at Dmr in a Grade 3.........good post and retains Mr. Prat.........improved a.m. work since the Grade 3........ should be tough

4  Quattroelle   barely lost to our top choice and earned a better Santucci fig mostly because of a wide trip....... mostly made 2nd choice because of the aforementioned improved a.m. work for our top-pick-rue

8  Absolute Scenes   on the improve with each and every AW race overseas in GB.......not too worried about the switch to the grass as my guess is she has run over it being that she grew up in GB......also the one mile race in GB was an oval and a left handed one at that

2  Michalska

6  Pizzazz

race 8    average clarity

7  Carte Blanche   subtle improve in his latest at CD in that he is not very good around two turns and yet he didn't embarrass himself in a two turn 1 1/6th race at CD (note all the one mile races at CD are one turn affairs and he earned numbers that fit well in most of them)........so if he has held form for the D'A cutting back to a one turn 6 1/2F sprint should have the potential for an improved effort/fig today and vs. slightly easier

9  Cause and Effect   LA runner for the most part but 2 of his last 3 endeavors at Del Mar fit fine here and the strength of both is hidden........it seems that trainer Daniel Azcarate gets him very sharp when he faces the "big guys".......like that he is coming off of 2 straight one mile races as it should help his staying power at today's 6 1/2F distance

5  Eustace   seems slightly better on conventional dirt and lifetime best was run the only time he has competed at 6 1/2F albeit in a race at Del Mar.......1st on the SA dirt is a question mark

4  Alcools  SCRATCHED OUT OF THE RACE

6  Admirably

race 9    average clarity

6  Disco Ball   not the best of trips in all three lifetime starts and all three races yielded next out winners.......a.m. work at SA indicates he is very sharp........pedigree for the lawn is so so.......but.......he seems like a ton if he takes to the sod

11  McWherter   solid 5F turf debut at Dmr and the works since are improved and longer hinting the grass surface muscled him up and enhance his chances of handling the added distance

1  Witch's Vow  not so hot in his last two races both turf sprints.....but his turf sprint 3 back is solid and well hidden in it's strength as he was caught wide pressing a hot pace......gave him 5.5L of trip/pace adjustment yet he was only beaten by 2L for the win..........away since 18 Oct but works hint he can mount a rebound.......should be a very big $

7  Hollywoodhellraisr

3  Absolute Unit
