Santa Anita for Friday 11 June 2021

Not an easy race card to decipher. Only five race cards left at Santa Anita for the winter/spring meeting.

Best of luck as always!

race 1    below average clarity

6  Runningoutoflove   two year old Cal-bred colt from the Koriner barn has hit the track every 7 days dating back to at least March and his last 3 preparatory drills on the SA surface are awfully nice........all wound up and ready to unwind if he handles the sod.........pedigree for it a decent

1  Flash of Genius   baby was just bought in March and trainer Peter Miller like our top choice has put works into him that hint he is also meant and ready to roll at 1st asking........two year old colt owns an adequate pedigree for the sod

7  Bet On Mookie

5  Mackinnon

8  Olympic Legend

race 2    below average clarity

2  Silver Moon Road   two solid MSW AW races at GG to begin his scratch on 21 May but this gelding has put in two strong drills since hinting he is doing OK.......and supporting the notion he has recovered from a set back is that he was a vet scratch in a MC50,000 and yet races for MC62,500 today

4  Honor Among Men   seems like the speed of the speed and despite going for $435K at sale in 2018 the drop into MC75K makes sense as he has only raced twice.....once on 31 Aug 19 and the other time 3 weeks ago on 22 May.........and look who wants the mount - Prat

6  Cant Stop This Man

race 3    average clarity

2  Vella   not the best of trips versus better earning a number that is 2L better than par (adjusted for the 4L of trip) for today's softer level........Eswan Flores seldom wins on the turf but has a shot to win here if he gives a better ride this afternoon

7  Maggie's Magic   1st on the grass but mom has tossed a couple of turf winners and this filly runs well on the AW at GG......combine the 2 "turf positives" and you have an individual that has a good chance of handling the sod......and if he does he should be tough from start to finish

3  Majestic Gig

1  Navy Queen

race 4    average clarity

1  Sir Flatter   two solid stats for Miller - dropping down multiple classes and 3rd out following a layoff........both are the case here........look for Cedillo to send this gelding early sitting 1st or 2nd down the back-stretch.......should be tough

7  Gerlach's  look for this fellow to go after the front end........if he gets it he might have a little extra endurance to finish up well with the cut back in distance

3  Very Irish

5  Mongol Altai

race 5    average clarity

3  Truth Seeker   trainer has won with 7 of his last 18 2nd out following a claiming which is the case today........and the effort 1st out after the claim is better than par (albeit on the dirt) for today's 25K claiming level........his ability on the grass is better than his overall (5 0 1 0) record on it indicates

5  Snazzy Dresser   only two speed horses in the field and he is one of them......he gets the "advantage" over the 2 horse as he appears to have more of a chance to stalk and succeed......and more of a chance to grab the lead

6  Storm the Bastile

race 6    average clarity

2  Big Al's Princess   price shot is well hidden to many as this three year old filly was wide on a day the rail was golden........he received a Santucci fig that is 2 lengths better than par for the given level of racing.......sure would like to get the 10 to 1 ML

8  Nobu   filly takes quite the drop from MSW racing down the MC30K.......and over the years Callaghan does well with these "take him if you want" types

7  Kind But She Lies

6  Consider Me Gone

4  Big Bell

race 7    below average clarity

3  Swiss Swoo  D'Amato has been dynamite with the horses he picks up in Europe.......this one has run twice on the AW (both solid efforts) but there a good shot he has trained on the turf overseas......Phil has been incredible with his imports so it hard not to put them as the top pick-a-rue

2  Wyfire   three year old returns to the race wars as a 1st time gelding and 1st time on Lasix......wide trip in a $100K turf sprint Stakes at SA when last raced on 26 Sept. 20 or he would have won......big shot if he is ready fresh off of the bench

1  Gator Shining

race 8    average clarity

1  Head for Business   MSW to MC50K drop for this Hess four year old today who moved forward in his 2nd lifetime start quite a bit.......the effort is disguised in it's strength by racing somewhat wide up on a hot pace......decent chance to get loose today......hard not to like

9  Active Account   Dean Pederson is very dangerous with MC 1ster's when they train well which this four year old is doing........his last two preparatory drills are impressive.......seems like a must use

8  Revisionist

5  Me Mucho
