Los Alamitos for Saturday 2 July 2022

Next publication for The Racing Digest is at Lrc for Saturday 9 July.

Best of luck as always!

race 1   average clarity

4  Tequila Tigre   one of the strongest Santucci figs for the offered level on the entire card......very sharp a.m. work.......hot jockey in Ramon Vazquez stays put.....cut back of 1/2 furlong should be a plus.........a superfecta of positives

3  Galarina   filly has always worked well on the dirt and yet she has run on the grass in all her 7 lifetime racing endeavors......Dunham filly should go off a decent price

7  Lucky L

1  Blazing Bardot

race 2  average clarity

7  Travel Smart   lone lifetime dirt race is decent and disguised in its strength.......latest run on 18 June appears to be nothing more than a dirty up her form gimme to keep the claiming vultures at bay with the significant drop in claiming price......and this off the pace runner should get a lively set of fractions to aid her cause

5  Derby Quest   another filly who comes from out of it in a race profile that seems to favor those that do......only race at Lrc was at today's one mile dirt distance and it was arguably the best run of her career

3  Red Panty Night

1  Shvere Arbeter

race 3 average clarity

6  Midnight Somewhere   last three abbreviated dirt sprints at LA fit solidly here and I am not too concerned about this five year old gelding 5 1/2 furlongs as the whole field has been hanging out at night at LA with their short distance sprint races

2  Runaway Wywy   seems like a decent 8K claim by Sergio Morfin of a gelding who his been quite consistent but only owns two wins.......underrated rider Edger Payeras rides thru the claim......like this guys chances of being "right their" at the wire

4  Munny Ball

race 4  way below average clarity

4  Buttonwood Tree   not much support at the windows in his MC50K debut......three nice works since the "tune-up" hints the race muscled him up.......three year old gelding should be in the mix from the get go and with a jockey upgrade

2  Disko Tribute   woke-up some in his last race which was the 28 May version of this Cal-bred MC50K which was run at Santa Anita......difficult to tell if he will move forward again today 3rd out after a layoff but if he does he should be tough

3  Grazen in the Park

race 5  average clarity

5  Box of Chocolates   often the best time to drop a given horse is off of a prolonged layoff and that is what Sadler does here with this six year old .......solid a.m. work and the trainer has won 3 of 4 to start the meeting........rather sure this gelding is meant and ready to roll

4  Joe Don Looney   gelding has shown he can handle the Lrc surface and he appears to have been given a muscled him up grass race.......and it sure appears to have worked as his a.m. is markedly better......dangerous sort

1  Slam Dunk Sermon

race 6  average clarity

6  Perfect Ice Storm   Sadler six year old is not eligible to be claimed and she is very successful competing at the 10K or 12.5K level......so John has the impetus to have her ready off of the 8 month hiatus to take advantage of the situation

3  She's So Pretty   sure likes the AW track up North but she has something to prove on conventional dirt.....if she handles it as well lookout as she is an eye-popping 10 for 17 at today's one mile distant

4  Song of Fire

race 7  average clarity

7  Kai's Statement   hopefully its a big day for the Sadler/Vazquez combo as they are our top choice in races 5 thru 8......MC30K debut was decent and somewhat disguised as he broke slow and then ran inside on a dull inside at SA on 29 May........3 solid drills since the race......1st and 3rd came back to win.......three year old should make a good account of himself

4  Tahoe Secrets   one of Tim Yakteen's best moves is blinkers off......cut back in distance should be a plus......impressive 4 work series preparing for today and the last drill was one week ago and quite stout considering today's low level of racing

2  Conch Daddy

6  Hiding the Brick

race 8  average clarity

6  Impossible Task   4th consecutive race with a John Sadler horse as our top choice.......Ellingwood and her 7 lbs apprentice weight break is aboard this gelding and that should be a good thing as the two best lifetime races this five year old were with Emily up.......bug girl is 2 for 2 riding for Sadler over the last 2 months and prior to that almost everything she rode for John was very live.......a.m. prowess is impressive to boot

3  Moraweth   last two dirt races are better than par Santucci figs and fit fine vs. our top choice if of course this five year old can run as well in his 1st route rave of his career.......pedigree is decent for a two turn race.......but.......if stout trainer Steven Miyadi has an Achilles Heel it would be "1st at a route"

2  Houndstooth

race 9  average clarity

8  Miss Baylee   trainer is starting to heats things up some and he seems to have this filly well primed for today's race off of three solid drills the last of which was a bullet best of 18 4F drill at LA only 6 days ago........and Koriner is often at his most dangerous third out following a layoff which is the case today for this filly

6  Mix and Match   last won't do the trick but the effort put forth in her race 2 back might........not easy to tell which race we will see but if it is her effort 2 back she has as good a shot as anyone of taking down this race

1  Shemakescent

3  Truly a Mess

5  Cal
